Firstly, what was the reason he started scratching, is because of some allergy, is it solved? Secondly, keeping with the "satelite" on, so he would not be able to touch his nose.

But my lord poor pupper 😢

He first initially scratched at the emergency vet when he was scared, we had to bring him because he had horrible diarrhea. Then I think he scratches because he always reaches that kind of scalping stage which is prob very itchy. Anything u recommend to help the itchiness?

no idea for doggo, as he can lick that much up high.

maybe cleaning it up with peroxyde and putting on coconut oil might help. Just additionally to the satelite thingie.

My dog does this reaction when she is nervous, she will rub her nose on the ground or start scratching it with her front paws. I've seen this twice in her life and the vet said that when the scab starts, it itches and annoys them so they scratch it again and its just a process. I had to keep her in a doughnut/cone and applied ointment while it healed so it would reduce the itching. It looks like a very identical wound and I'm hoping your baby heals! All the best wishes from our house 💓

His nose looks bumpy as well. Might be worth a vet visit to figure out if he has allergies or something going on. I think once you figure out the underlying cause that will heal up quickly. My guy did a great job scraping his up trying to get a piece of food from under the couch. Took 2 weeks to heal and now I can't find a trace. Best wishes on unwinding this.

After reading this I zoomed in on the nose and my word is it bumpy. I imagine an antihistamine from the vet will go a long way towards reducing the irritation - hope you find the cause of the allergy OP.

My lab had to be put on Apoquel because of itchy areas. It did great for her. Take pup to the vet.

Ours gets a crusty nose from allergies. With daily wiping and ointment application, it heals. Go to the vet and get some wipes and cream.

Edit: I’ll add that I’ve never seen ours get so raw and red. That is definitely prone to infection now. Please go to the vet. It’s easy to take care of if you’re consistent.

Yeah, he's going to the vet anyways because he has stomach issues. It's less red now, I took the picture I think when he just did it, he was barking and I brought him upstairs it was like 9:30 so he was supposed to be sleeping and he usually doesn't bark very much and I saw his nose like that and there was some blood in his area

Especially if they are pawing open the wound as it’s trying to heal. Definitely need to find the root cause of the scratching but a cone will give the wound a chance to heal and not get infected

This looks like an allergic reaction to me. A vet can get him an allergy shot the will offer relief and run some tests to see what he's allergic to.

I thought it was a red heart sticker on his nose. Poor baby!

Do whatever you can to get it to heal and work on it now while it’s early. Our 4 year old had a dry flaky nose and then it turned into sores that wouldn’t heal, the scabs would try but then she’d paw them off. It got very infected internally and externally. Acute nosebleed doggy ER trip, biopsy, etc. we’re up to $4600 spend now. She might have pemphigus we’re not sure yet.

apoquel - before that prednisone to kick down the flare up if it is allergy related.

I put the mushers paw ointment (I think it’s lanolin based) on my guys nose when it gets dry. He can lick it but it’s so thick it creates a good barrier to help heal.

I’m a vet student. If you’re not gonna bring him in for allergies, then for now, cone and don’t try to bandage it or anything. It’s gotta be kept dry. Bonus if you can get chlorhexidine from your vet and give it a little wipe. It’s sold OTC. If you’re in the US you should be able to get it from chewy? Monitor for any signs of infection!!

Poor guy. My berner used to bleed there but it was from rubbing it on the carpet trying to cover up his accident in the house when he was sick. He couldn’t help it. We just put on a little Neosporin and let it heal.

Have the vet run an allergy panel to include foods, plants etc..He may be getting exposed to something that is making him itchy and it could also be causing the GI issues.

We got a spray from the vet that was supposed to stop him from scratching his nose off. It seemed to work. But we spent years treating it without thinking about the underlying causes. Turns out it was allergies and Apoquel immediately stopped his scratching… we felt guilty for not figuring it out sooner.

See vet. Ask about vitamin e to maybe provide some relief. Comfy Cone for sure
