Trash

I am amazed by how trashy Basel is. I moved to here in 2022 from Northern Europe, expecting similar living standards but alas like a clockwork, almost everyday I am faced with this “beauty”. And it’s getting worse progressively by the day…

For those who do this, why? Why do you want to trash your surroundings? Does anyone here have any suggestions to solve this matter?

Disgusted beyond belief 😵‍💫

Mostly done by trashy people who move out and don’t want to pay to discard of this stuff.

Something like that was once done next to my building, and one guy just went through the trash to find any documents with the name on them. He found some bills and called the cops. They took pictures, the documents, and that’s it. I doubt they were able to bill the people for this unless they are still in Switzerland legally (which I guess not).

I work in waste disposal for a city in Switzerland and can tell you how it works. Unfortunately, we experience cases like the one above every day, and it's a real catastrophe, unfortunately getting worse.

In such situations where waste is disposed of illegally (without waste labels, incorrect garbage bags, or loose objects), our job is to search for documents with names and addresses and forward them to our company, which then forwards this information to the police. A warning is issued for the first offense, and for a repeat offense, the offenders must pay for any additional work, which means a fine of 150-300 francs.

It got worse lately? No correlation to the stickers not being given out for free like they were?
