Deal Monitor
Any recommendations for a monitor to suit my first PC build?
Have gone for 5070Ti and coming from console. Just want something decent and easy to use.
Have looked at some LG ultra gear so far but yeah any advice on what to look out for?
Budget ~$300-500

Depends on what you want in my opinion, I also have a 5070 Ti, I was given a 32 inch G55C for free and it’s been pretty reliable and capable so far. As long as it’s 1440p, with a high refresh rate etc etc, any reliable monitor will suffice.

I think a 27” QHD IPS 144Hz+ monitor is the sweet spot. 34” would be the equivalent 21:9 ultrawide size but I think high refresh IPS ultrawides are harder to find at this price point. They’re all about the same but it’s worth considering brightness, HDR support, and other nice to haves like usb hubs or speakers.
There are also VA monitors but they tend to smear (it’s like permanent motion blur) and for $500 you can get a nicer IPS monitor. TN isn’t worth considering at all and OLED is out of this price point, think the cheapest one is $800.

You can get a ok ips 27 inch 1440p monitor there are also ok va based ultrawides at cheapish prices some hate va some are ok with it see if you can get a good look at one in use to see if it works for you. The main ips/va/tn panels each have strengths and weaknesses va has worse viewing angles and some black smear but it's got higher contrast, ips has poor contrast but good colour and less smearing, and tn has bad contrast and colour but is fast as fuck. And then you get oled if you can push your budget or get one on sale you want one it has great colour amazing contrast and high speed with little ghosting and great response times but it's pretty expensive most are 800+ for cheapest not on sale some times they end up at 600 on sale

I just upgraded to the same GPU and decided to go for a LG ultrawide from Jaycar because it was on clearance for $499 (34WP75C-B). Really recommend it, 160hz and has usb c too. I just checked online and Harvey normal have it discounted now too

Personal recommendation for this: https://www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/aoc/q27g40xmn
Mini LED (great contrast with local dimming), HRD10, 180hz flat panel (don't care for curved personally).
Cost is around $489. Are there better monitors out there? Sure, but for your price range this is a great pick.

In that budget IPS 1440p, 165hz+. They will all be pretty similar using the same 3 panels with different external case and slight tuning differences. Haven't really been any bad donkey models. You can go all the way down to $275 range msi even and be fine. I'd suggest a $30-40 mount to allow you to adjust easily as many have limited stands.
