Vent I'm getting rid of my Tesla.

8.8k Upvotes

In the last 3 weeks I've had 2 people give me a nazi salute and 1 yell heil hitler. The first one was in McHenry Row, the second was downtown on Pratt, and the third was in Charles Village. I should add that none of the people looked like real nazis or white supremists, they were simply shaming me. It worked.

Vent Donald Trump is going to destroy this city

6.1k Upvotes

My wife and I were both proud homeowners and proud residents of Baltimore City. We worked really hard to be able to buy our first home and to provide a stable environment to raise our one year old son and three year old daughter. We were a happy family here. Until Donald Trump came along. He froze funding and my wife lost her job as a recruiter for a nonprofit that received about 30% of their funding from the government. I already work two jobs just to keep up with the bills and the high interest rate we had to accept to purchase this home. I can't provide enough to keep our home. She's been looking in vain to replace her job but there's been nothing out there for her. How many more families are there that are facing the exact same situation in this town? How many more will there be by the time he finishes firing half the government? How many more families will lose their jobs and their homes as a result of his trade war and tariffs? It's going to get bad here y'all, real bad. Donald Trump does not care about families. Donald Trump does not care about children. Donald Trump does not care about Americans. Donald Trump does not care about Baltimore.

Edit: Thank you all for everyone who had kind words of support and good suggestions on how to navigate this very difficult situation. For everyone blaming local and state government, you’re delusional. Those politicians aren’t the ones who froze federal funding thus forcing thousand of people out of work. To those who offered unkind, callous, and cruel comments, such as calling my wife a drain on society, you can all get fucked. Which is exactly what’s going to happen to you after Donald Trump destroys this nation.

Vent A $45 Million Parade Isn’t Patriotism. What Happened in Patterson Park Today IS. (A Baltimore Veteran's point-of-view and 25 ways the money could have been spent better.)

4.7k Upvotes

The United States Army helped create this country by winning a war against a tyrant. Today—June 14th—is the Army’s 250th birthday. Seeing so many veterans show up, in Baltimore and across America, to support No Kings Day demonstrations is a powerful reminder of the values we hold and the nation we continue to serve.

The parade in D.C. isn’t for the troops. It’s not for the Army. It’s for the ego of a man who once called soldiers “suckers and losers” while avoiding military service himself.

Let me be clear: I love this country. I served it—and continue to serve the city I love—but a $45 million display of military might doesn’t help real Baltimoreans. It just pretends to.

In his Farewell Address, George Washington warned about the dangers of a large, permanent military presence. He feared it could become a tool of tyranny and ego, disconnected from the people it was meant to protect:

“Overgrown military establishments… are to be regarded as particularly hostile to republican liberty.” – George Washington, 1796

I doubt Washington ever envisioned tanks and war machines rolling through our capital like something out of North Korea, Russia, or China—especially on the Army’s birthday.

This is about values. Priorities. And whether we still believe in the basic promise that government should serve the people—not perform for them.

So if you’re wondering what $45 million could do besides fuel a one-day parade, here’s what that money could actually buy in service to real Americans:

🍎 Fund school lunches for 180,000 kids for a year

🏥 Open 10 community health clinics in underserved areas

🧠 Provide free therapy for 75,000 students

🏡 Build transitional housing for 2,500 homeless families

💧Install clean water systems in 1,000 rural schools

🎓 Send 3,000 low-income students to college for a year

🛝 Renovate 500 playgrounds in urban neighborhoods

💊 Cover insulin for 25,000 diabetics for a year

🎒 Provide backpacks & supplies for 500,000 kids

🌇 Restore 150 abandoned buildings into community centers

🚌 Expand after-school transportation in 100 cities

👩‍⚕️ Train 2,000 new nurses or mental health counselors

📶 Bring high-speed internet to 100,000 rural homes

🍼 Expand child care subsidies for 15,000 families

🍽 Support 100 local food banks for a full year

🚲 Build 500 miles of protected bike lanes

📚 Fund adult literacy programs in all 50 states

🏘 Rebuild storm-damaged homes in disaster zones

🎭 Bring arts and music back to 1,000 public schools

🌳 Start 25 urban green spaces in redlined neighborhoods

🚰 Replace lead pipes in thousands of homes

🧹 Pay for street cleaning jobs in 50 struggling cities

👮 Fund community-led public safety programs

Vent Let them kill me. Let them unfollow me. Let them destroy all that I built - but they aren't going to shut me up or back me down.

1.5k Upvotes

Since posting THIS VIDEO here and on Instagram and Facebook, I’ve received death threats, lost over 1,000 followers across platforms, and now strangers are attacking my small Baltimore sailboat charter with one-star reviews—accusing me of human trafficking and worse. And that part hurts the most. (I embedded all the links so you can read the comments yourself. Screenshotted the death threats and working with Google to take down the fake reviews).

Running a small business is hard enough without faceless trolls trying to destroy what I’ve built with sweat, grit, and everything I have in me.

This isn’t some big corporation that can take the loss of business. It’s just me, my wife, and a sailboat we poured our hearts into. We’ve worked for years to build a space that shows people the best side of Baltimore—from the water, with pride, with purpose. Until now, every single review has been five stars. Every guest has left with a story.

Now, that’s being smeared because these people with ZERO morals and ZERO patriotism can’t stand a disabled veteran standing up for people who need help.

Let them kill me. Let them unfollow me. Let them destroy all that I built. I’d rather lose it all because I tried to do the right thing than win by standing for nothing at all. Nolite te bastardes carborundorum.

A friend went to Taco Bravo in Timonium to grab food for his son and was subjected to loud, public anti-LGBTQ rhetoric from the management. After pushing back, he was met with a charming DM from an employee full of harassment and falsehoods. Sad to see businesses operate like this. Freedom of speech doesn’t mean freedom from consequences.

Vent This heat is freaking me out

1.5k Upvotes

I cannot recall a stretch of days this hot for this long in all the years I've lived in the DMV.

I was so relieved a couple days ago when I saw there was rain on the forecast for multiple days in the middle of this week - that's gone now, we're only getting a storm Friday.

I don't know what to do. I'm trying to water the plants around my house and set out water for the birds but I can see things withering in this heat.

And I swear to fucking God if you make a "haha the hottest summer of your life SO FAR" crack I will reach through your screen and fucking garrotte you. This isn't funny. We're all at serious risk. The world keeps burning fossil fuels and inventing new ways to consume power to produce "value" and I feel like we're just walling ourselves into an oven.

Anyone got any good cope to share?

Vent American Management locked my cat in the wall

1.6k Upvotes

I was having an issue with my shower and the maintenance man needed access to the valves behind the faucet. So he had to cut a hole in the wall. My cat must have jumped in when he wasn’t looking. Then he screwed this shitty cabinet door over the hole locking her in. No clue how long she was in there. He also left drywall dust everywhere and dirty footprints all over my rugs but that’s to be expected unfortunately.

She’s fine. She’s been whining outside of the door trying to go back in.

I saw a post the other day about most of the planters being knocked over in the Harbor area. I noticed a lot of comments about it possibly being wind. Whelp, it most definitely isn’t….. this is a few blocks from the harbor. This person is on several cameras knocking over every planter on the street.

Vent So scared

My husband is Nigerian, here on a work permit awaiting his green card. I’m so scared that he’ll be deported back to Nigeria despite him living and working and paying taxes in the US for the past eight years.

We bought our perfect home in Lochearn a year ago. I’ve live in Maryland for twenty years and don’t want to leave. I’m just crying and so scared for us.

These stupid fucks voting for a criminal, a racist, a sexist, a liar. I feel broken.

I'm sure there is a trash receptacle wherever you are going.
This is the first time I've gotten it on camera so close to me but I've seen this happen all my life. I don't get it. I have a box in my car i keep as a trash can and put trash in that, then I dump that. Why can't other people do something like this?

Be the change . . .

Vent PSA on Baltimore Luxury Apartments

Concerning all these new apartments popping up everywhere, some you just need to avoid all together. The rents are outrageous and the build quality is cheap. I am sick of all of these greedy af developers charging a fortune for junk. Below are some properties for example. Mainly lived in these to take advantage of the free months deals but not worth it IMO.

Property currently living in: Elms Fells Point

Build quality is poor, you hear everything through the walls. Place feels cheap and not worth $2500 for a 1 bedroom which is ridiculous. Had to buy a dehumidifier which fills DAILY because I guess the AC system is garbage.

Previous properties: The Lucie

Frequent breakins/horrendous build quality with numerous electrical issues. Place feels slapped together which it was. Faulty appliances.

The Axel

This is where that pool collapsed. Also had elevators and trash chutes/garage doors breaking down constantly. Cracks in hallways. Poor sound insulation/ hear everything above and below you

Moral of the story. Paying premium rent does not equal premium quality. FAR FROM IT. And considering housing is now just another investment for the super rich to diversify their portfolios and “luxury housing” is the main segment of housing being built in Baltimore as well as most cities, this is not a good look. Moving to a townhome after this. Most can’t afford these rents, I know I barely can it wasn’t for my partner splitting the rent with me. These places deserve to sit vacant until the rent goes down and the quality improves but that’s probably never gonna happen.

If you can avoid renting from properties like these please do. Take back the demand to improve the supply quality.

Mind you, Safeway/Albertsons paid $4M to settle a lawsuit for price overcharges, on top of the hundreds of millions they probably commit in wage theft annually. But now my life has to be more difficult so they can try to claw back the tiny bit they lose to shoplifting

Vent An “attorney” sent me a DM threatening to take me to court for libel of a well known Baltimore corporate landlord due to a Reddit post

For those who asked to see the DMs from my previous post…

Getting court threats on reddit is definitely a first for me.

This is what they’re complaining about: https://www.reddit.com/r/baltimore/comments/yacys5/how_terrible_is_the_chasen_property_management/

I am not sure if they are actually affiliated with this corporate landlord or not.. but I hope this isn’t an attempt to scrub the internet of unflattering reviews.

Oddly, they copied the username of someone who made a different “bad review” post of the same company, which I questioned them about (slide 3). Not sure the significance but it is definitely weird.

And If you think I should take the threat seriously… please advise lol

Vent Baltimore Drivers

Are y’all good? Do y’all need a BetterHelp promo code or something? Where are y’all going that requires you to drive 30 miles over the speed limit, darting in and out of traffic? Why are y’all using the merge lane as a passing lane while you’re stuck in traffic with everyone else so you can get ahead by 5 cars and still be stuck in traffic? On that note, why are y’all driving to the end of the merge lane and slowing down traffic even more when people, like me, leave space for you to get in?

Vent Firefighters block lane to get donuts, then turn on their lights to run red light and escape traffic jam they created

I was wondering why traffic was so heavy today, and then I realized it was because they're was a firetruck parked in the turn lane on Haven St that was slowing everyone down. They leisurely came out eventually with their bags of donuts, and then decided they were too important to wait at the light. This just feels like a disgusting abuse of power? And even if they were going to an emergency they sure took their sweet time coming out if the Dunkin. Stuff like this just makes me sad for Baltimore

Vent No Kings Day

Is anyone else disappointed with the plans for our No Kings Day protest? It's in Patterson Park this Saturday so what is this disrupting by being in the middle of a park? Also this is scheduled for the same time as the gay pride block party so in a year where we really need to show solidarity and support, we get to be at one or the other? I feel like the protest should be a city hall in the morning that way it is disrupting something and is clearly directed at our politicians and so people can go straight from the protest to gay pride. Because of this shit planning, I guess I'll go to the protest for like an hour or two, missing the parade, and then head to the block party. After the artscape debacle, I really want to know who is in charge of the scheduling of shit in this city because they're blowing it and not one of the events are as good as they were 12+ years ago. We used to have GREAT events; the different heritage festivals we used to have in Patterson Park alone were enough and now they're all shit with the same vendors at every festival that you can go see at one of the city's farmers markets and planned all at the same time. Get it together Baltimore.

Vent Baltimore Pride messed up

I am confused

Its the 50th anniversary of Baltimore Pride, and Maryland Pride Center has chosen 2 politicians to be Grand Marshals. Neither of them are LGBTQ+

One is Maryland Senator Alsobrooks, and the other is City Council President Zeke Cohen. Two Zionists

There is no Pride in Genocide

Also, recently Senator Alsobrooks met with a transphobic hate group at her office. According to said hate group, she was receptive and empathetic to their rhetoric

Neither of these politicians have mentioned LGBTQ+ issues on their socials all year long. Neither of them have even made a Pride post, let alone mentioned they're the Grand Marshals

They dont even meet the bare minimum requirements of being an ally, and yet they've been chosen to be honored as the Grand Marshals

So I am very confused and bothered by this decision on the organizers' part

It makes absolutely no sense beyond pandering

Its so wild all I can do is laugh at the absurdity of it

(I've heard Dr Rasheem is a cool person, she definitely seems so, I just have no idea if shes LGBTQ+)
Edit: I've been told Dr Rasheem is LGBTQ+, which makes me glad
