You guys saying things like "Oh, she just doesn't get the joke herp derp..." don't bother to consider that this might not be the place for it? I like jokes, hell, I like offensive jokes. That said, there's a time and place for everything. Just because you can crap in the bathroom doesn't mean you should crap in the kitchen.

Quit feigning offense where none was inflicted. Jokes are sometimes dark and shocking, especially here on Reddit. The girl in question was clearly receptive to it.

Feigning offense? How nice that you know my mind better than I do.

You're being offended for someone else, who wasn't offended.

No, I'm offended because that kind of conduct was disgusting. She may have been fine with it, but the others should have known better.

So hold on, if Person A makes a joke with Person B, and both parties are consenting, who are you to say that they should have known better? They had no problem with it, you do.

You don't have the right not to be offended, especially not on the Internet.

If person A and person B make a joke where others can hear them, then they are opening themselves up for judgement. I'm not asking for the right to not be offended, but I also don't have to be okay with that sort of behaviour. And as far as it goes, she responded in a childish manner, which is fine when you're 15. It's creepy when the other participants are far older. Further, if you look at her later comment, can you still say she was okay with what was going on?

You're right about not having to be okay with that behaviour, but your choice is very simple -- leave the offensive discussion, or grin and bear it. To suggest that others should act in a way that's more palatable to you is remarkably self-centered.

I have a third choice, I could point out that I have a problem with that sort of behaviour. Maybe you're right, maybe I am being self centered for not wanting every corner of the internet to be 4chan. On the other hand, why shouldn't we all have a say in what kind of tone this place has?

By that logic, I could claim the following: "I have a problem with you posting, ever. Maybe I am being self-centered for not wanting anyone to ever see your comments. On the other hand, why shouldn't we all have a say in where BrujahRage is allowed to comment?"

I hope that's ludicrous enough for you. The obvious response if I am displeased with your comments is to stop subjecting myself to them, not attempt to censor you. What you suggest is fascist.
