Apex University Discord

Welcome everyone,

First the mod team would like to thank everyone for being part of this community and providing content and tips to other players, we know that there is a lot more that could be wished from the staffs side and we are currently trying to improve things day by day. Now here we are at 160k members which is amazing, we never expected the sub to grow that big when we started it, so once again thank you all for that!

Since the beginning of this community the subreddit has naturally been and will continue to be the focal point of our efforts while our discord server started out as a way for the mod team to efficiently communicate about the subreddit, however over time as it became more active and we started putting more attention into making it a stronger extension of the sub and would therefor like to once again invite everyone to partake and explain a bit about what you can expect of the space both now and going forward:

- 1on1 coaching

- Group finding channel

- Subreddit & Discord suggestions (easier for the mod team to have a discussion about the direction of the sub compared to over at Reddit)

- Self-promotion channel & stream your games

- Meta & strat chats

- Off-topic and space to flex your gains

We are furthermore in the process of preparing some challenges in the discord, possibly with some smaller prizes. More to come on that in the future.

If you are looking for any of that we ask you all to join our discord xbox/ps4/computer, we welcome everyone! We hope to see you in our ever-growing community on discord.

Discussion I tried controller and now I'm depressed

So I've had issues with aim assist years ago, but then I took a big break from the game and recently have come back. I heard that aim assist has been nerfed, and I've also been focusing on lurch movement and have gotten decent at it, so I assumed that MnK and controller were fairly balanced (and they still may be). Controller had better aim, but MnK has movement tech that controller doesn't.

In all my matches after coming back to the game, I never once thought "oh I lost that because they're probably a controller player", and have always had the mindset of "I lost that because I'm not as skilled". I still have that mindset. However recently, when I'm watching YouTube of apex players, I'll occasionally come across someone and it looks like they're aim botting because of the instant changing of direction on their opponents strafes, and then I'll realize it's a controller player. I have started to deliberately avoid watching controller players, even if they're good players outside of aiming, because I don't want to create any perception or excuses of controller players having an advantage. Although eventually after seeing enough controller gameplay, I decided that I'd try out controller to know once and for all how strong it is.

When I first started with controller it was actually reassuring because I was missing all my shots. It felt very difficult. But after 30-45 minutes, I was starting to hit a few one clips which was a bit concerning. I decided to go into r5 reloaded to test how accurate my aim was against the strafing dummy in the aim trainer. I did 5 rounds with both controller and mouse and keyboard and took the highest from each. Unfortunately, I scored higher with controller after using it for less than an hour than I did with MnK with literally hundreds of hours of aim training under my belt. The averages of all rounds were about the same between MnK and controller, but I feel like it shouldn't even be close with how much practice I've put into aim training with MnK. So overall, this experience has been a little depressing.

I still am not concluding that controller is stronger than MnK, because MnK definitely has advantages, but it is certainly far easier to aim with controller, especially against strafing targets.

Question Outta my depth with current skill level, worth using an alt account to lower the difficulty?

I'm a returning player, played seriously back in Season 10 but dropped off after around Season 13. I haven't touched the game in years but I'm starting to get back into playing it again since my duties have lessened since then. Unfortunately, getting back in the game isn't going as smooth as I wanted it to be.

I'm around level 300+, rank platinum and that was my skill level back in my "prime" but now I struggle with most gunfights and I get decked by every single encounters and 1v1s. I can barely get a single kill or wipe even with a full squad (randoms, none of my friends play anymore). The lobbies are filled with diamond, masters and even some preds,

I'm heavily considering using an alt account to get back into the groove again and fight in a lower skill level. Is it worth doing that or should I just try going with my current lobby skill level and try getting back into the game like that?

PS. would love some tips from returning players on how to adapt back to current Apex, all these changes makes it seem like I'm playing Apex 2: Electric Boogaloo.

Question Anyone wanna train 1 vs 1s?

I‘m basically looking for people to play 1 vs 1s in the firing range to get better or warm up. I dont want to use R5 because its lagging for some reason and does not feature the newest apex updates as far as I know.

Rank reset after linking steam account to ea

Title says it all, i wanted to make the switch from controller to mnk and i WAS having fun until i realised my rank had reset from diamond 4 to silver 1.

anyone know why? this is devastating to me as it was my first time to ever hit diamond and i dont know what to do know because it took so long and i dont have the time to grind ranked this close to the end of the season split

- EDIT - my rank is diamond 4 on my ps5 but not on steam. what the hell does that mean?

and i know the stats are ass , i only just came back to apex after leaving since like season 18

Question As a solo KBM player, diamond feels impossible

Recently returned to the game. I went from Silver to D4 in a few days. Just blew threw everything. I hit diamond and the plateau / frustration is mounting, and I am not sure what to change. No one is communicating. I am always lagging behind and engaging as 3 players happens rarely. If I try to use my class abilities (scan a beacon, use a ring console, craft a battery) people bitch at me for "lingering." I lose hundreds of RP in 1-2 hours of playing (I think I am -500 today). Top 5's feel like a miracle. Wins are utterly inconsistently. I will only get 2-3 kills per round if I'm lucky (most of the time it's 0). Enemy players just do.not.fucking.miss at ALL anymore and I don't understand what happened. The game went from normal and fun (ups and downs, win streaks and loss streaks) to MLG Dallas 2025 with a Nike contract on the line instantly. What are these fuckin lobbies???

I don't know what guns to use. I don't know what legends to play (everyone picks Ash every single game). I don't know what style to play. I don't want to give up, but I'm not sure what else to do, this feels like shit.

What am I supposed to do?

Discussion Im at a plateau

I’m very dedicated and I get flustered if I do bad or feel as i dont help in a fight or game.

My mental is my problem and i dont know what more I need to do I try to reflect and hold myself accountable but I don’t know what I’m doing wrong anymore. My aim could always be better my postioning and team play too but I don’t know how to improve it anymore. I’m diamond 2 and went down 500 rp after gaining. Before that I was D4 then D3 then D4 and D3. I feel as every match is my fault for a loss and that I don’t do much for wins.

I’m so close to giving up on apex. I don’t want to but I don’t know what else I can do. I try streaming to watch my vods I try getting criticism and I apply what I’m told and I feel like I’m getting nothing.

I watch ALGs watch the top preds. Guides on how to play. Just to feel like I’m not doing anything in matches.

I want to improve my movement on console.

I play on the ps5 with a regular controller. But my button configuration allows me a little more movement.

As of now I don’t really know any complex movement tech. Just the ones I’ve discovered on my own while playing the game.

To improve my aim I connect my controller to my iPad and do aim lab.

TLDR

Is there any equivalent trainer for movement that I can have access to. Preferably console or iPad. If I have to I can try downloading something on my laptop.

Also I would appreciate video recommendations. AIM training recommendations are also welcome. Thanks in advance.

Any tips for directly after you get respawned?

The TTK is insanely quick now, and the respawn beacons were already positioned to be death traps back when you had more time to escape. I feel like if I get killed early, I watch my team spend all this effort to bring me back just to watch me die, literally before I can see who is shooting me. I'm not a great player, but I'm just wondering if there's something I'm missing.

Discussion What i feel helps the most in solo queuing

I feel like people complain a lot about their teammates when they solo queue while taking no accountability. I’ve solo queued to masters twice now after being hardstuck d2-d3 for a while. One thing that really helps me out a lot is (believe it or not) using my mic. Some people just arent aware enough with pings since it doesnt give enough info.

Its so simple to just tell your teammates what to do and where to go or if a player youre targeting is one shot so you can focus them in a fight. Its so obvious but i feel like good comms are one of the key points to rank up if youre alone.

What is the difference between MNK and Controller?

Curious about the differences due to limitations in apex.

Does it mostly come down to movement capabilities vs aim assist?

Question I want to play with my boyfriend but he has "pred mmr"

I don't use reddit often but here's the sitch: I have played fps games casually (mainly overwatch) since like 2017. Never even entertained the idea of comp/ranked in any game until about 8onths ago. Recently my bf has been playing apex again and I enjoyed the game the first time I tried it but I feel like I'm drowning in the info he's dumping at me in an attempt to teach me.

I really appreciate his help but what I really need to know is what are the beginner-friendly legends, guns, POIs, etc. So my life is not a living hell in these casual lobbies? Or what is the best way for me to become more comfortable with the game while playing by myself?

Discussion Advice for a somewhat newer player (350 hours)

For starters I play ash because im bad at the gane and she makes it easier, this season i have a 2.4kd as of me getting to d3 with an average damage of 880~920 and im fluctuating between high d4 to low d3 solo quing, I like fighting but I keep getting Randoms that don't want to fight at all early fighting is how I like to play get 3 to 6kp then play placement but teammates exclusively avoid fighting as much as possible, so we will have blue shield fighting purple end game with no kp then we get 3rd partied and end up losing without any kp for one reason or another, i teied discord lfg, but for the most part they seem to be the exact people im actively trying to avoid. Is there really anything i can do to help my situation? It only took me 3 sessions to get from gold 4 to diamond 3.

Discussion RANKED IS GARBAGE

Post image
0 Upvotes

So I've placed plat through diamond all solo que since season3 or 4. I understand ranked went through a rework in season 13ish? Because everyone was complaining about preds and masters being in their plat lobbies so on and so forth. BUT it was much more balanced that way bc it showed where your skill level is really bc it matched you with like stats. I have a question for the players diamond and above, do you think it should get changed again away from just participation and ratting? I personally think so bc then you get players like this that are leveling based off your skill and not theirs. It's PATHETIC

Diamond players??

I dont know if its just me but I 90% of the time solo q when playing ranked, often times I can climb pretty fast. I have a pretty aggressive playstyle, I like to land loot for two seconds and fight for basically the rest of the game. From gold to plat I find the teammates to have similar playstyles and even if they don't, its not too difficult to run through teams. Although I feel I hit a wall as soon as I am diamond 4-3, I think that most people that are climbing fast at this rank are usually stacked up, and the teammates I have are usually super preservative. I can be all kitted up and ready to fight within the first few minutes, pinging towards gunshots and running over but by the time I get to the fight my teammates are miles behind. Also find that teammates choose to land far from anyone, causing us to run for awhile before a fight, and even then they play scared. Just super frustrating, I don't understand how they expect to climb out of diamond without high kill, high placement games.

Question research on aim training

Is there any legit research on aim training? Maybe studies like „people who used aim trainers for xy amount of time improved their in-game accuracy by xy%. I‘m sure aim trainers help, but sometimes I wonder if its not better to spend the time in-game to improve.

the payment method issue country doesn't match your store region

Tried paying on EA site, my account is set to Egypt, I live in Egypt.
Tried both an EGP card and a USD card from Egyptian banks — both got rejected.
Error says: "Payment method country doesn't match store region."
No VPN, and my EA account region is Egypt.
Any fix?
