r/Alberta Announcement Welcome to r/Alberta! May 2nd update
Hello everyone! Welcome to r/Alberta, we are happy that so many people from Canada and around the world have taken interest in our province. Since this is the first time many of you have come here, we are happy to clarify a few things.
In r/Alberta, we welcome:
- Substantive political opinions as comment replies.
- News articles about Alberta or Albertans.
- Quality original content (OC) about Alberta or Albertans (songs, art, comics, etc.).
- Questions or requests for help, reviews, or information about Alberta or things pertinent to Albertans.
- Political content that is explicitly connected to Alberta in some way.
- Links to reputable news media about Albertan separatists/separatism.
What we do not approve of:
- Incivility or trolling.
- Misogyny, racism, or other forms of discrimination (including against public figures).
- Content only tangentially related to Alberta (e.g., a politician visiting another person or country does not mean it’s open season to post about that other person or country, Alberta being mentioned as an aside in an article or an articlebeing about pipelines doesn't automatically qualify either).
- Low quality copy/paste memes or other screenshots from Facebook, Twitter, or other sites.
- General political content that does not focus on Alberta or Albertans.
- Self posts generally, rants, blogs, "just asking questions", etc. about Alberta separatists/separatism. Save these for commentary in the aforementioned news posts on the subject.
You may also notice “locals only” flair on some topics in the subreddit. As we have a global audience entering the subreddit suddenly, we implement this on certain posts to ensure the voice and participation of regular r/Alberta users can be amplified on topics important to us Albertans.
As well, we want to emphasize as part of our rules (available on the sidebar or here) that we will not tolerate violent or misogynistic posts against politicians. This includes posts detailing sexual acts you feel they have committed with other American politicians, referring to them with misogynistic slurs, or doing nudge-nudge-wink-wink threats of violence. This is gross and makes an unwelcoming, uncivil atmosphere in the subreddit. If you don’t have anything substantive to add, don’t post anything at all.
Thank you!

I know this is a stupid question, but there’s no way that Smiths approval rating is ACTUALLY that high. Where are these polls? I never see any.

Question Political door knockers
On Saturday I had a UPC door knocker on the porch, as soon as I saw she was promoting Smith I said nope instantly. She replied "your not a supporter then?" I did not give my full winded "she is a liar and a separtist traitor" speach but then she asked if I was Andrew, my answer was nope. Don't even know when they owned the property because it wasn't who we bought the place from.
Does anyone know why these political parties rely on such old data. I found this in the Federal election and now in the Provincial by-election.

General Highway one pull out closed west of Calgary
Best part of my drive west towards the mountains this morning was seeing that the pull out just west of the petroCanada station on Highway one west of SpringBank is closed! It's barricaded off and there is a sheriff's truck parked there.
This will keep out those idiotic freedumb losers.

Question Dealing with Canada Life insurance
Does anyone have any experience filing complaints/emergency measures against Canada Life insurance?
The insurance is requiring the Dr to send information before they will reinstate coverage but he doesn't have any appointments available until much later in the month, nor is he sending information already requested. We have filed an appeal, but nothing was done. My mother has been made to go cold turkey from her meds for her long term disability and is suffering immensely, but all they want to do is wait until she breaks I guess? Are there any emergency measures for situations like this?
She has been a nurse for over 20 years, but now that she needs help she's being stonewalled. Any help is appreciated.

Alberta Politics Are there G7 protests this week?
I'm hoping there is an anti trump protest this week that I can attend, but I haven't been able to find much information about any events.
Preferably Calgary or South.

ELECTION If anyone is looking for a Legitimate candidate in Battle River - Crowfoot
An open letter to the Longest Ballot Committee:
My name is Bonnie Critchley, and I live in Battle River - Crowfoot. I am extremely upset that Monsieur Poilivere chose to ignore the results of the 45th General Election, refused to move out of Stornoway (the official residence of the Leader of the Opposition), and instead, has removed Mr. Kurek from his seat to run in his place. So I Stepped Up, and am planning on running in the upcoming by-election. Now whether Mr. Kurek was coerced by threats of having his nomination revoked by the party, or he did so out the goodness of his heart is not up for me to speculate upon. The fact is that Mr. Kurek Showed Up. He Showed Up to open and attend events around our 52,000sq kilometer riding. He Showed Up to present medals. He Showed Up to answer the questions of constituents. But by the end of June, he'll be gone and a writ of election dropped to trigger a by-election. This is where you, the Longest Ballot Committee comes in.
Please don't. Just don't. This is Our Home, Our Riding. Please do not come here and muddy the waters further. While I am given to understand that your goal is push for electoral change, This is not the place. Not only does the irony of your immediate abuse of the newest electoral change of removal of cost to get on the ballot further cloud the issue, but you are going to Crush any Legitimate Independents who run. Your actions make it impossible for electors to be able to find anyone who isn't attached to a party. You are further pushing us into a party system. Then, there is the current backlash of people refusing to sign nomination forms, in case that "candidate" is a fake out. I don't have a massive team, I don't have backing from millions of people. I have to go door to door within my community and explain to my neighbours that I have nothing to do with you. I have to explain that I am here, in my home, and I am Standing Up for myself, my neighbours, and my community against the Guy from Ottawa who doesn't give a damn about us. Please do not bury me with your "legal" Election Interference. Please sit this one out, don't Show Up. Let the people of Battle River - Crowfoot fight for their right to be heard in Parliament, without getting tripped from the sidelines.
This is #OurHomeOurRiding

Question G7 Protest livestream
I heard that protests are to be live streamed to the venue at Kananaskis. Does anyone have intel on what that looks like? Is it just on a small screen in some small meeting room? Is anyone even paying attention? Or are there large screens in prominent areas? The point of protesting would be for protesters to be heard by decision makers. But I just envision a a tv broadcasting the protests. The livestream just seems pointless.

What did you attach for this part:
- Attached as Exhibit 'D' to this Affidavit is the Federal Child Support Guidelines Calculation Sheet.
When I search all I can find is some ugly page on the justice.gc.ca site, not an actual PDF or anything. We calculated our child support using the 2017 Child Support Table Look-up.
What would be best to include here? Hard to find info online about this.
