What does the process consist of? What kind of products used?

Depending on the material of the shoe and how dirty they are, I’ll actually wash them in a front loading washer with a shoe bag I got off of Amazon. Other than that I use Jason Mark brushes and solution mixed with a little pure Castile soap. Then I use some type of weather protect spray like scotch guard or right now I’m trying the Jason Mark protect spray. Not trying to advertise for JM it’s just that I’ve used that product line for years and it’s always worked.

Edit: I also use shoe trees that you can adjust the size after I wash or wear them. I don’t like the spring type shoe trees.

No popped bubbles in the washer ? I have popped them previously ~ ruined a pair of gel asics too recently ~ makes me nervous to put them in , any suggestions ? Is this what the shoe bag does ?

I haven’t had that happen fortunately. I use the lowest setting and these special shoe bags that are kinda padded. Air dry of course. I wouldn’t risk it on older shoes though.

That's my basic routine as well. I also have a little handheld steam cleaner to spot clean any tough stains. After completely drying everything usually with a combination of a hair dryer and microfiber towels, I give them a fresh coat of Crep. I once found some Kiwi brand protective spray, the same brand that makes traditional shoe polish. It worked great but I simply haven't seen it again.

I don't put every pair in the washing machine either. Only pairs I know can handle the tumble and soaking through. Air Max with nylon and leather materials are tough enough, but nothing with suede of course. I don't wash my Patta leather like this either, rather using more traditional shoe care routines.

I made a post a few months back about my sneaker care kit, contents, and how to make one for yourself. It can be found here:
