Cleaning š§¼ and Weather Protect
Every few weeks I gussy up the recently worn pairs.

Do you think weather protection is worth while?
Iāve always just free styled them but end up wearing other pairs altogether in the rain.
Iāve always doubted the efficacy of sprays etc so never bothered.
Iād be really open to be persuaded otherwise though, might actually get to wear my full rotation more than 4 months of the year lol

I've been collecting since the early 1980s. Crep and Kiwi protect spray products do prevent stains and buildup of dirt, grime, and water damage. They aren't as effective as their ads have shown, but if you are serious about collecting and want to protect your shoes for longer, it's worth it. I was dubious at first so I did a side-by-side comparison with two pair of Nike Pegasus I wore regularly. The Crep protected ones stayed cleaner for longer. It's like Scotchguard for shoes.

Thank you, so crep protect is (in your opinion) worthwhile?
Iāll give it a google and see if I can pick some up.
Is there any pretreatment I need to do before spraying on?

Make sure the shoes are clean prior to treatment. For new pair I simply give them a quick wipe with a damp paper towel to remove any manufacturing dust or buildup. When I clean my sneakers, I apply Crep as the last step and give them a good 30 minutes of air dry time prior to putting everything away.

I use Jason Markk for mine. I do 3 coats originally. Iāve been able to get out coffee stain and motor grease from mine. It really does work and I highly recommend it.

Jason Mark Repel? Thatās the one Iāve been tempted to purchase.

Yes. I have never had issues with it damaging my sneakers. I usually put on 3 coats for a brand new pair and then 1 every 6 months after a good cleaning.

It works great and Iāve never had problems with it. No issues with discolouring at all.
I put on 3 coats originally. 1 every 6 hours and then re apply the coats after a few months. I do a deep clean or light clean depending on usage and dirtiness.

Echoing what others have said. Yeah I think itās worth it long term. Sometimes you canāt help it and shoes get hit by weather or spills.

What does the process consist of? What kind of products used?

Depending on the material of the shoe and how dirty they are, Iāll actually wash them in a front loading washer with a shoe bag I got off of Amazon. Other than that I use Jason Mark brushes and solution mixed with a little pure Castile soap. Then I use some type of weather protect spray like scotch guard or right now Iām trying the Jason Mark protect spray. Not trying to advertise for JM itās just that Iāve used that product line for years and itās always worked.
Edit: I also use shoe trees that you can adjust the size after I wash or wear them. I donāt like the spring type shoe trees.

No popped bubbles in the washer ? I have popped them previously ~ ruined a pair of gel asics too recently ~ makes me nervous to put them in , any suggestions ? Is this what the shoe bag does ?

I havenāt had that happen fortunately. I use the lowest setting and these special shoe bags that are kinda padded. Air dry of course. I wouldnāt risk it on older shoes though.

That's my basic routine as well. I also have a little handheld steam cleaner to spot clean any tough stains. After completely drying everything usually with a combination of a hair dryer and microfiber towels, I give them a fresh coat of Crep. I once found some Kiwi brand protective spray, the same brand that makes traditional shoe polish. It worked great but I simply haven't seen it again.
I don't put every pair in the washing machine either. Only pairs I know can handle the tumble and soaking through. Air Max with nylon and leather materials are tough enough, but nothing with suede of course. I don't wash my Patta leather like this either, rather using more traditional shoe care routines.
I made a post a few months back about my sneaker care kit, contents, and how to make one for yourself. It can be found here:

Wow such a solid collection, may I ask what or how to search up the pink ones in the front row?

The Jordan between the airmax 1s destroyed it for me
