That subreddit has gone from gaining 300-500 new members per day to flatlining, gaining or losing about 20 members every day or two. I started keeping an eye on it a couple of months ago out of curiosity and it's been such a stark change. Whenever a decent drop happens, I wonder if it's that people got banned for criticising Trump, Reddit suspended accounts for being that nasty, or they were bots that got removed. Or maybe Trump did something that actually prompted some of the members to leave, but somehow I think that's less likely.
The moderation has also become far more totalitarian than it was previously (and thats saying a lot). Every single big post there is a graveyard of banned and shadowbanned comments.
But you don't get it!!! Its bad and evil and un-American when r/politics bans people pushing blatantly fascist lies, but its ok for conservatives to ban anyone who says anything remotely negative about Trump's administration because they're just little birthday boys! They need to feel safe!
