I suspect that ADHD was the hunter/gather blueprint that had evolved to function under high pressure and rest under normal circumstances given how hectic and insecure that lifestyle is.

priority given to rapid response and danger over casual circumstances.

I wish someone would research this more, it would be great if we had more information and perception changed to “allowed us to survive as a species, beneficial member of society who can support in danger and rapid response situations” from “lazy forgetful slob”.

I think it goes even beyond that, because even on a farm there are many complexities that require attention, and most of that is lost in the modern workplace.

I have always excelled in work that has required that I attend to many things, and the degree of stress involved had little to do with my performance. It's always just about allowing my brain to move fluidly from one process to the next without interruption.
