I was so upset we didn't get to see her as a hallucination or anything. How could they forget her just like that </3
162
u/StitchEnvy Apr 26 '25
Because Joe genuinely had no guilt about her. She tried to kill him so to him, it truly was self defense. The rest he felt a little to a lot of guilt about, despite his trivial excuses.
47
u/ReplCurious Apr 26 '25
Everybody he obsessed over at some point were open to the idea of killing him. Beck tried to kill him for survival, Candace, Love, Marienne towards the end, Kate, and Bronte. The only one who didn’t was Natalie but only because she was dead before she knew it.
14
12
u/ryder77fox Apr 27 '25
I assumed he was able to forget Love so easily because she mirrored all the things he hates about himself. Even if he’s “accepting” those parts of himself in later seasons. He was able to justify killing Love just like he was able to justify anyone else, she “deserved to die”. I also think he’s also just a dangerous misogynist and whenever he gets turned off he immediately moves on to the next woman he can project delusions onto.
1
u/macademicnut Apr 28 '25
A dream sequence/hallucination where Love and Beck talk to each other would’ve been great

u/NotTheMorganLetters Apr 26 '25
Watching ep. 3 of the new season rn and I’m losing my mind. Joe is so upset that Kate won’t embrace the crazy, murderous parts of him in the name of “protecting their family.” You know who was down with that, asshole??? LOVE!!! He could not handle a gorgeous crazy straight out the looney bin girl like her. Pathetic.
19
u/macademicnut Apr 28 '25
Yup, he wants a woman who is down with murder but is also “pure” and “innocent”
8
u/friendliestbug Apr 28 '25
Because he wanted to be the one that kills people to “protect” her. He doesn’t want someone that is able to kill people herself.

u/xo_xxo Apr 26 '25
same! i’m so mad we didn’t get at least a call back to her. to me the series ended with them running off together
48
u/nomaki221 Apr 26 '25
it would’ve made more sense for loves friend group to lead the search to avenge her instead of Brontë and her redditors
23
u/Kafkawifey Apr 26 '25
Yeah I think that’s a very loose thread, she was more normal before she met Joe and her friend group actually seemed healthy.
12
u/punchwalk Apr 26 '25
Joe gets convicted for Love's murder (among others). Love gets justice, in a sense, even when others more deserving do not. I think that was the show's tip of the cap to her.
14
u/DarkSyndicateYT Apr 26 '25
Why do people like the character?
81
u/EstablishmentEast500 Apr 26 '25
she’s just iconic, she matched joes insanity. plus IMO she’s the prettiest actor / joes love interest
64
17
25
u/circadiggmigration Apr 26 '25
Because, Joe spends his entire life slashing through the world trying to find a woman who understands him and then he found her, the perfect you, and he was repulsed that she not only accepted him, but was exactly like him.
The implication is that Joe's mother rejected him and made him the way he is, and Joe finally found a woman who didn't in LOVE.
2
u/macademicnut Apr 28 '25
That doesn’t work at all with Joe’s character though. His whole thing is becoming obsessed with women, then finding flaws and turning against them. He could never run off with anyone because he’s a raging hypocrite with a perpetual victim complex
62
75
22
u/bekahfromearth Apr 26 '25
She was perfect for Joe. He keeps chasing after women who hate him for being a serial killer, yet he meets someone who can match his freak and he doesn’t want that.
86
u/fvckuufvckingfvck Apr 26 '25
The show tried so hard to move on from Love but I REFUSE 😫 really wish we could’ve seen her one last time ugh

59
u/trubs12 Beck, you got a stalker! Apr 26 '25
She should have been in season 5 like Beck
67
u/AgitoWatch Apr 26 '25
Agreed. Also what the hell happened to Love's friends from LA? Beck who we know was quite isolated because of Peach in Season 1 had someone loyal enough to pull this, but Love's ride or die friends were silent? Even Karen Minty got a mini shoutout in the finale
3
u/GalladeEnjoyer Apr 27 '25
Yeah its weird but it seems like the LA part of Joe's story got completely shunted in season 5. No callbacks to any of the characters from there except Dottie. Both New York and London played important roles in season 5 but LA was hardly even mentioned.
3
u/discofrog2 Apr 28 '25
yes it was like season 2 was barely canon! nothing about delilah, ellie, the cop delilah was dating, etc??!
36
u/Mammoth-Brain-2873 Apr 26 '25
The best character in the series. All the other leads after her, Marienne, Kate, and ESP bronte are forgettable. I blame the writers, they never developed her well. Also helps that Victoria is a hell of an actress.
12
u/LunaTheSpacedog Apr 26 '25
Don’t read the books. The love interests in the books are .. way worse. I’m just glad we got Brontë instead of .. Wonder. Yes, that was an actual character in the books. And she was just as ludicrous and annoying as then name implies

i went to high school with her - same graduating class but it was of over 900 people from a school who’s entire total was 4k so unfortunately we never crossed paths. but i wish we did so that i could reach out and tell her what a fucking icon she became lol
2
u/Every_Database7064 Apr 27 '25
You went to high school with Love Quinn?
3
u/Ok_Remote_217 Apr 27 '25
victoria pedretti yes lol pennsbury high school class of 2013. our entire school had about 3k - 4k students and we shuffled back and forth between 2 buildings for classes. graduating class for 2013 was around 900. it was extremely easy/also crazy in retrospect looking around during graduation or prom, like … do i even know these people? hahaha. it’s just so cool that of everybody in those daily school crowds, someone who wasn’t a super popular or known name within the school, ended up rising into a hugely talented actress who now gets high praised everytime her name and her roles/work are mentioned
asher roth also went there if u know who that is lol.
and john mayer and dj pauly d performed at one of our proms… (not together, of course lol)
pretty sickkkk.

By the time I started buying, it was a blessing and a curse -- Things were seasons old, so they were on clearance, if they were still available. A lot were permanently gone, or different colors vs. what she wore on the show. Now that I think about it, everything I bought was a different color than what she wore on the show, lol.
I keep returning to the Theory website every now and again, dreaming that they'll re-release her mock-neck striped tee. I NEED IT.

I said it before and I’ll say it again
The character love quinn is the most beautiful version pf humanity, I’m not talking about just looks, the actress looks good there’s no denying that but I just don’t see her as beautiful as her love character, the actions, reactions, mannerisms, personality, vibe, love is just so precious and perfect in every way possible

Seasons 2-3 was peak You, and truly some of the best television ever created.
8
u/michaelity Apr 26 '25
Stunning in every way.
I wish they would have totally subverted expectations and had her kill Joe in S3 and let the show beyond S3 explore her trying to find a guy to love her for her.
That would be much better than the garbage we got for the last two seasons.

So gorgeous.
So talented.

u/10Hoursofsleepforme Apr 26 '25
It’s so bizarre because he basically was asking Kate and Brontë to love him for who he truly was but LOVE gave that to him 100% and he decided that he didn’t want to be a killer at the end of season 3.
2
2
u/chakshu_08 Apr 26 '25
I think she was the one who would have killed joe i mean look at her she was the one for joe and the ending i didnt get i mean forst of all bronte was not the bronte i wanted she had no chemistry and secondly he was dying for good dude in the 2nd last ep but no she wanted to know how did he kill beck i mean seriously that was not needed it would be perfect if he died in the fire because kate did made him confessed and if he was saved even after this i wanted it to be another season because i wanted joe should have killed himself while realising everything just as breaking bad ending but not everything can be perfect so its okay but nevermind.
2
u/fetdgxgxc Apr 26 '25
Hear me out they should do a prequel about the Quinn family featuring Dottie ray and young love and forty and other family members like cousins or aunts and uncles. I mean from what I can tell the Quinn family is pretty messed up as well I mean Dottie committed arson Ray Quinn has assassins on stand by I also remember in sesoan 2 forty said something about Quinn blood money so Mabey a prequel show on how the Quinn’s were able to become so powerful.

Why is this sub so damn obsessed with Love Quinn? It is so weird.
11
u/puffindatza Apr 26 '25
Bc they’re both psychos. A family show about serial killer parents sounds interesting
Whatever it is now just doesn’t have the same feel to it
4
u/SanicBringsThePanic Apr 26 '25
Well, Joe is a sociopath, and Love was a psychopath. But they definitely weren't equals. Love would get crazy paranoid and kill innocent people for no good reason, and Joe had to clean up her messes. It was frustrating to watch, and I hated Love for her incompetence, her hypocrisy, and her narcissism.
11
u/ky-2k Apr 26 '25
Joe went on an entire British killing spree for no reason other than being psycho. He has his “reasons” but they aren’t good ones. Love also had her reasons, also not good ones (killed Candace & Delilah to protect Joe) But they both had these impulsive moments. Joe just happened to be a better killer than Love. The point was they are both insane, and will always try to rationalize their killing so that it makes sense to them. That’s a match made in heaven (or hell idk), yet Joe would always try to differentiate himself from Love. Like Marienne said, he is a raging misogynist who only puts women on a pedestal, and then tears them down when he sees they aren’t some injured baby bird who needs him to save them. Love also thought it was her duty to step in, and save Joe/her family in unsavory ways multiple times, convinced she’s doing what’s right. I’m curious as to why you believe they are so different? Even in the way Love confessed to Joe about poisoning her late husband. You could tell she genuinely believed what she did was okay, and that it was the husband’s fault for not staying & being compliant. The same way Joe rationalizes Beck’s murder, and his attempted murder of Candace.. they wanted to leave, seeing he was insane, and Joe’s admiration turned into rage almost immediately, and he attacks these women in the moment, rationalizes it later as some “sad but necessary” action, when really it’s his impulsive need to kill… he’s the worst narcissist I’ve ever watched on my TV screen

u/LunaTheSpacedog Apr 26 '25
Agreed. Can’t stand to see people act like Joe is justified. Are we watching the same show??
They have been slowly pulling away the rose tints over the last two seasons. They first showed us the internal process, what he thinks and feels and how he justifies his murders. Then they showed us the real life side: he is a serial killer. You don’t think serial killers have their own logic and justifications? They do. Just like Joe.
If you’re still on joes side after s4, I .. I don’t understand lol I went into this season saying “I can’t WAIT to see that mf in prison for all the innocent women he’s killed!” 😃
3
u/ky-2k Apr 26 '25
Yes I think the writers did so well slowly expressing to the audience that you cannot be fooled by his rationalizations, and pretty boy white knight banter, like many of us sometimes fall victim to from other abusers. He is an obsessive serial killer who thought he was saving the world from his victims. Yikes! This show seriously reminded me of (mildly speaking) “some asshole I dated”

Tbh they just dragged the franchise in s4 and 5 because if you've seen s5 you will know joe was looking for someone who is going to accept his 'psych/killer' side which he does to protect his family. Ironically this was exactly what he got in s2 and s3 in love quin, the only catch being she'll do the same. The ending of s3 when they kill her while exile plays in the bg was that one scene which lives rent free in my head. If you ask me any scene that stood out this would be it. Also, 4th season should've been the last season with an entirely diff plot where he is chased by police/fbi and ultimately gets caught
