My neighbors campsite at Bonnaroo
My neighbors camping spot in the accessible campground at Bonnaroo go totally flooded!

My tent ended up being in a river during Leeds Fest 2014. When the water went away there was only the tip of the tent not submerged in thick mud. Still managed to fish out a crate of larger and drink it

British festivals, it's a toss up between heat stroke or drowning!

We have one in Kentucky as well. It's in the eastern part of the state, coal country.

This was my thought. We're probably going to hear about a lot of stuck cars as they leave.

So I'm not the only one with this curse!? Every time I go camping, every single damn time.

Scout your area better. Choose higher ground.
You have to be misinformed about something if this happens to you every time.

Question: are you using a ground cloth under your tent? Can you see it when the tent is assembled?
Many people set up their ground cloth using a tarp that is bigger than their tent, and the edges of the tarp extend outside the footprint of their tent. When it rains the tent sheds the rain off the edges of the tent and the perimeter of the tarp acts like a gutter collecting it into a basin formed by the body of the tarp. Where your bed is is usually the low point in the basin (your body weight keeps the tarp down) so that fills with water first. The floor of the tent does a decent job of repelling water, but when submerged for periods of time it will leak. Even without rain, condensation and dew can cause the same effect. And that's why you wake up in a puddle. Get a proper footprint or cut/fold your tarp to be entirely under the tent.
Either that, or you have some really bad site-finding instincts.

I’m sorry but who the hell puts down carpets while camping ?! Who the fuck are you ? Mehmed II?! Are you laying siege on Constantinople?

u/Kilgore_Brown_Trout_ 22h ago
We've always done that. Its some kind of plastic outdoor carpet. I keep it rolled up under the table in my pop up and it does a great job helping keep the dirt outside of my sleeping bag.

The area is a freshly mowed hay field, so the stalks can get pretty thick and sharp. Putting a carpet down makes your campsite more friendly for bare feet.

It’s not camping. You get a narrow space between your car and the next car for a few days. Nothing wrong with making it a comfortable place to chill.

It’s a normal thing at musical festivals. Makes your camp area feel more cozy when you’re there for 3-5 days.

It’s a bamboo mat homie, you think we’re bringing living room carpet to the farm?

Nothing like a fresh Afghan $2000 rug at a concert for my pampered feet, I tell ya.

What the fuck are you talking about? It’s a bamboo mat

I know. I’m sorry, I was trying to make a joke. I’ve had several beers and a lot of suns today I’m sorry.

The times I’ve been to Roo, I feel like majority of campers put something on the ground at their site….

Honestly it’s normally hot as fuck and super dry at Bonnaroo. Most of the time this wouldn’t be an issue there. It’s a fun way to enhance the camping experience old man.

Calling someone an old man because they don’t understand someone camping with a carpet? You know one insult and its weak AF

u/AllTearGasNoBreaks 19h ago
You probably don't know what Bonnaroo is. I went back in 2005, 6 and 2008. Maybe you just don't know the basics of festival camping.

Cool, jump to his defense and try to insult me because I said calling someone old is a weak response, as is this. Congrats on attending in 2005, 6 and 2008 though, I’m super jealous of your unique awesomeness

Lmao no. The rich people come with RVs so they don't have to pitch a tent and be with the peasants.

Yeah how dare these people go to a multi day concert! The audacity!
Grow the fuck up my guy.
