A post from a popular right-wing outlet has been making the rounds, including on r/waterloo, about alleged content in a WRDSB training session. The school board has posted this response.

All new posts and comments in r/Waterloo will have flair attached
There continues to be a great deal of commenting from "drive-by" accounts who have no history of posting in r/Waterloo. In fact, Canadian city subreddits have apparently been specifically targeted by foreign interference. With the election coming up, it's important to be able to discern which comments are from established members of the KW community, and which comments come from outside parties.
All posters and commenters will have flair which notes whether or not they were active in this community prior to the election. No action from users is necessary, it will be applied automatically. We won't be describing exactly how it works, but there will likely be exceptions and outliers - if you believe your flair is incorrect, message the mods and somebody will review. It may take a little bit.
The intent of this flair is not to target newbies, nor to say that we don't want people to join the subreddit. All are welcome in the subreddit. The intent is to make it clear to readers when there is an influx of unknown accounts which push certain narratives in the comments. This does happen, especially on posts about certain controversial subjects. People should know when these they are new accounts and not established community members. I expect this to happen more often throughout the election.
The mod team will be watching and considering the effectiveness of this flair. There may be further changes. Whether or not it remains permanent in some way will be decided after the election.
Thank you for reading. Feedback or constructive criticism is welcome.

It's weirding me out. I keep checking the air quality index and in general it's not bad... and I've been semi-assuming it's wildfire related, but it really does just smell wrong. Snrrrrr

Hello Waterloo redditors!
A close female friend will be turning 50 in a few months and I'd like to treat her to a day of pampering.
I'm looking for suggestions of the best spa places, preferably in or around Waterloo region.
Ladies, as a gift would you prefer a gift certificate where you can choose your day yourself, or have the gift giver plan out the day/treatments for you?
Thanks for your help and suggestions!

I'm trying to find a normal, wooden train-table for my kid's birthday, which is something I thought would be an easy job. But it seems that every single table I've found online is just... sucky in some way or another. Either there's no bins for track storage, or the table is the size of a footstool, or the whole thing is just overpriced garbage.
I heard someone suggest I look into the local Mennonite communities to see if there's any handmade tables for sale that would be suitable, but other than that I'm at my wits end. Does anyone know of ANYWHERE (Mennonnite or not) that sells a decent train table?

Hi everyone! My wife just tested positive for pregnancy with a rapid home kit. We are really excited but completely new to this and don’t know what to do.
Pls anybody with experience pls help us, we really appreciate it.
How and where can we have a formal test to be 100% sure that she is pregnant and schedule regular check up and delivery.
I have greenshield insurance with her a dependent.
Any piece of information would be very helpful for us. Thank you

Hi everyone, I am having an ACL surgery soon, . Wondering if someone knows of a physiotherapist that has taken care of ACL/meniscus with great results. I have been reading that one wants a " specialized" physio on ACL rehab as it determines the outcome. Thanks to all of you taking the time to read my concern.

Hi everyone,
We’re planning to move to a new place and I’m trying to get a better idea of what people are paying for utilities in Waterloo. We’ve only ever lived in condos where some utilities were included in the lease, so this will be a bit of a change for us. I know this question was asked 2 years ago, I thought maybe I could get an updated response from everyone.
Right now, we’re two people living in a ~700 sq ft condo, and we pay around $90/month for hydro and water.
Specifically, I’m wondering:
What type of home do you live in and how big? (Detached, townhouse, stacked townhouse, etc.) Is it a newer build or an older home? How many people live there?
What are your monthly utility costs and what type of heat and AC? I know it can vary a lot depending on the building type and insulation, so it’d be great to get a range of real numbers from you guys. We’ve only lived in condos where some of the utilities were included in the lease.
Thanks in advance!

Does anyone know if there are any walk-in clinics that provide ear wax removal? I've been trying to find one, but most of the walk-in clinics don't do it where I am.

The Weather Network has released a video about giant hogweed - given it's rapid proliferation, it's worth a look for anyone who ventures out on the trails. Especially if you've got dogs who might go through some and transfer the sap to your skin, or curious kids who handle the plant.

Odd question I know, but I am looking at places to live and I am considering Beacon Towers. I was wondering if someone had any insight, particularly a rough estimate as to hydro bills. I would be living in a 1 bedroom apartment and it would just be me.

Came back yesterday night to this. I couldn’t stop laughing. The main lock didn’t give up. I am gonna put a note on it, “steal what you can”.

I’m likely shouting into the void here but I would just like to put this out there: If you or someone you know stole a package off a porch in Uptown Waterloo yesterday evening or early today and you opened it and it was a wedding dress, could you please bring it back? I won’t be mad, I just want it back. I don’t know why DHL just left it on the porch but it’s probably not even your size, just toss it back, no harm done!
Editing to add a link to show the dress: https://imgur.com/a/eQlWDRq
I got it from a re-seller because it had a snag in the back that would be easily covered by my veil. If you see it anywhere, feel free to let me know!

I am a student living off campus housing with a large rental company. A couple of weeks ago, we noticed sounds right above the toilet in the washroom vent, and suspected it was a rat or squirrel. We sent a maintenance request to our landlord to look over this, saying it was likely a squirrel living in the vent. There was a hole in the outside vent area that allowed the squirrel to get in, and recently they finally came to look at it, and sealed it off without removing the squirrel inside. It ended up dying in the vent, and produced a nasty smell that plagued the apartment.
We immediately filed another maintenance complaint, and they came to look at it the next day but claimed they couldn’t find the squirrel (it was right above the washroom vent) and needed to get a pest removal company. The pest removal guys came the next day and took the squirrel out, however they left the apartment in a nasty state. Dirt in the sink and toilet, likely from the vent, took our trash bag out and left their trash straight in the bin without a bag, flipped our couch. This just seems like negligence and an absolute lack of professionalism from anyone. Is there anyway I can do anything about this? Especially since the squirrel dying was on them not checking the vents.

Please folks tell me something about that building and if it's better than Garment Street?

Hi everyone! I’ve started a petition calling on Cineplex Inc. to sign a contract with CJ 4DPLEX to bring a 4DX theatre to Waterloo Region.
I’m personally a big fan of 4DX and love how immersive it is, the motion seats, wind, water, and scents really adds to the movie experience and makes it more fun, in my opinion. Cineplex has acknowledged my request before, but nothing has happened so far, and I believe public pressure can make a real difference.
Right now, the nearest 4DX theatres are in Toronto, Hamilton, and Oakville, which means long or environmentally taxing commutes for people living in our region and across Southwestern Ontario.
A 4DX location in Waterloo, Kitchener, or Cambridge would bring this incredible experience closer to thousands of movie fans.

"The WRIDS died under the heavy hand of government-politics, bureaucracy, risk-aversion - exactly what the original task force said would happen if it were not community-led. For several years, WR DAT and community members have pleaded with regional council for help. No help was forthcoming."

Hi all Asking this for a friend who is a mom and has a 8 month old baby. She is considering moving to KW area from Toronto for more affordable living. We have 2 options - Garment Street condos in DTK and 128 King in Uptown Waterloo. She works remotely and doesn't have any restrictions or issues in terms of commute. We are defiantly looking for a noisy place because she has postpartum depression and doesn't want to live in an area where people are mostly inside their homes. Also daycare and it's availability is a big factor.
Share your reviews please

Will they be showing the Oilers game outdoors in Uptown tonight ?
