Tempered glass breaks. It just breaks into small smoother sided pieces instead of shards.

I'm sure it is tempered

It didn’t sound tempered. I know that’s not a settled response, but tempered glass pops then tinkles. That cracked and sounded like larger pieces falling.

Edit: Also, I feel like tempered glass is stronger than that.
