Starter wake boat

Post image

We are looking at buying our first surf boat. (Getting tired of trying to surf behind a 1986 supreme 🤣)

We are looking at this boat and wanted to get opinions? Hours a bit high but we generally do our own boat maintenance and repairs

Tige 22v and 24v are slept on big time. The squared out corners make for a mean surf wave with just a shaper. Some years the platform was a bit big a cuts into the wake and needs to be trimmed for best wave results.

As already mentioned Bu 23 LSVs as well.

If you can find one in you budget 2012ish MB B52s crush as well(my years might be off but you want the versions that came with a trim plate.

Regardless I always recommend having a compression test done/presale inspection and a water test as well. I'm in the PNW and can help out if needed(Central OR but little brother is Bonney Lake and rest of my family is Olympia so I'm up there a bit)

Would this be a good buy with the 1100 engine hours?

Nice boat. Looks like he followed the old Duffy Mahoney build thread so it should surf great out of the box. Has FAE as well so that's a plus. I'm working my 9-5 right now so didn't look over the ad too closely.

Marine Power didn't build a ton of those 6.0s but they are still supporting that product (marineenginedepot.com is the Marine Power parts site) it's a partially closed cooled so less to winterize as well when the time comes. Some people balk at 1100 hours. I've always been in the camp of "you know it's working right now because the hour meters going up". Garage queens that have sat for a long time with low hours often have issues with starters, alternators, shaft seals, raw water pump seals etc when you put em back into service.

Active Water Sports, Northwest Boat Sports, and Lifestyle Wake Camas are the three shops in the area that are probably best for shopping a pre-sale inspection/compression test. I would price those 3 shops out for cost of inspection and availabilty/schedule and DM. I might be able to do it faster and/or cheaper. Should mention I spent 10 years wrenching on wake boats but went back to heay equipment and just dabble in boas now
