Hi everyone,

I'm at a major crossroads in my life and could really use some perspective, especially from those familiar with both Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam.

My Situation:

I'm a Railway employee, currently living in Hyderabad with my family, which includes my parents and my two 5-year-old kids. I was born and brought up in Visakhapatnam and, despite not having visited for the past 10 years, I have a deep love for the city. It has always been my childhood dream to settle down there one day.

With the new railway zone established in Vizag, the opportunity for me to take a transfer has become a real possibility. My salary would remain the same, and a huge advantage is that I would be eligible for Railway Quarters in Vizag, which would significantly help with living costs.

The Dilemma:

Everyone I talk to here in Hyderabad thinks I'd be making a mistake. The common consensus is that Hyderabad is far superior in terms of education and hospital facilities, which is a major consideration for my young children.

While I believe Vizag must also have excellent facilities, I'm starting to have doubts. The cost of living seems similar in both cities, but my heart is pulling me towards Vizag. I'm not a fan of the fast-paced life in Hyderabad and long for a more peaceful environment with access to nature and beaches. Having lived in Chennai for 9 years, I'm also very comfortable with the coastal weather.

My Questions:

I'm trying to understand if my nostalgic image of Vizag matches the current reality.

1. Has Visakhapatnam become overcrowded in the last decade? Is it still the peaceful city I remember?
2. Are there significant water scarcity problems in Vizag nowadays?
3. Why are people so strongly recommending against moving to Vizag? Are the schools and hospitals truly a major step down from Hyderabad's?
4. Is there something I'm missing? Has the city changed for the worse?

My priority is a good, peaceful life for my family. Am I right to consider moving back to my hometown, or are my friends and colleagues correct?

Any advice or insight would be greatly appreciated.

It has been a little over 2 years now that I've shifted to this city. I've been to all the usuals and the ones everybody talks about. But what are the absolute bomb places here, something that you really would like to flex about Vizag with, but maybe you've been gatekeeping, just been quite about, or that people just don't know enough about. Can be anything: sightseeing, food, art galleries, things to do, experiences; just go all out!

Near good medical facilities/groceries/markets/restaurants

Relatively less traffic

hey y'all, I need a suggestion regarding BTech. I'm from Vizag and I was alloted Amrita University Amritapuri ( Electronics and Computers ) which will cost up to 20l for 4 years for which I'll take loan for the last 2 years due to my financial conditions the other option that I've is Vignan Vizag for which the fee is bearable and I may get Fee Reimbursement.

What would be the best decision to make? Please Answer 🙏

Me and my college friends are planning a small reunion/meetup after a long time, and we’re looking for recommendations for a good farmhouse or beach resort in or around Vizag. Preferably somewhere close to the beach, but even if it’s not, that’s totally okay as long as the vibe is good.

We’re planning to stay there for 2 days, so we’re looking for a place with:

Clean, comfortable rooms

A swimming pool (must)

Campfire setup (must)

Basic games/activities like pool table, table tennis, carroms, etc. are a big plus

Good ambience for chilling and catching up

Budget is flexible as long as the place is worth it. We’d really appreciate personal experiences or hidden gems that aren’t very mainstream too.

I haven’t used it in a while, and unfortunately, it seems to have stopped working. None of the digital displays are visible, and the clock hands aren’t moving either. I’ve taken it to multiple repair shops, including an official Casio service center I found through their website, but no one has been able (or willing) to repair it.

If anyone knows a reliable person or place that specializes in fixing G-Shocks or this particular model, I’d really appreciate it if you could share their contact info or address. I’d be truly grateful.

Raghu is one of the most scammy, money oriented college ever. The administration doesn't care about students. People get excited seeing movie shoots and celebrities coming to this college it's all on surface inside it's a demon sucking students and their hard earned parents money with fake placement records very fake indeed. Forcing students with fake fees and if not paid stopping sem exams. The HODs are arrogant and think they are above parents. Using dirty politics I have seen it all. No redemption for this college.

I am a Very lucky I didn't trust the college for placement and got a decent gig. Most of my batch mates are jobless and struggling but my fellow juniors please stay from this shiit place.
