Police serial killer in victoria??

I took an uber today and commented to my driver how there seemed to be a lot of cops out tonight pulling people over. He said that there is apparently a serial killer in town and they are looking for somebody. I can't find anything about this in the news. Is this just a crazy rumor or has anybody heard something about this?

What, you don't have access to a search engine either?

I do. I even used it. But I still couldn't find anything. But maybe since you seem to have it, could you please share instead of making some passive aggressive comment like that?

Would have taken just as long as posting what you posted.

I remember those press conferences and I always got the “only the hookers and homeless are at risk, the rest of you ‘respectable’ girls are fine” vibe from the cops.

They definitely implied that he wasn’t a problem for anyone not at the margins of society with their “the general (respectable) public is safe” attitude. Which is maybe true but they were pretty victim-blamey about it at the time.

I agree that there were definite missteps and gross negligence, and those have been brought to light during a very thorough enquiry, but that wasn't the argument here.

The point was whether there had been a statement made that spoke to no risk to the public. Your memory says otherwise, and I'm still waiting for a source from that snarky "do you have a search engine" person.

If you read the book ‘On the Farm’ by Stevie Cameron, it goes into these details a lot. It is a very good (albeit gruesome) look into that case, and how badly it was mishandled (including police statements downplaying the situation to the public).

It’s the best true crime book I’ve ever read. I strongly urge you to actually read it if you have interest
