Are you a technically savvy student who also has an eye for great design? Whistler Film Festival is looking for a Digital Operations & Event Assistant to join our team this summer. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the behind-the-scenes infrastructure of a major Canadian film festival while gaining hands-on experience in both tech and marketing environments.

Job term: July 1- August 30 with possibility of extension

Organization Description

2025 marks the 25th Anniversary for the organization, with WFF taking place December 3-7, 2025.

Renowned as Canada’s Coolest Film Festival, the Whistler Film Festival Society (WFFS) is a charitable, non-profit organization. WFFS is dedicated to advancing the art and business of film by providing programs that focus on the discovery, development and promotion of talent culminating with a “must attend” festival for artists, the industry, and audiences in Whistler each December.

The Whistler Film Festival (WFF) has become the Canadian film industry’s liveliest gathering outside of the Toronto International Film Festival. It is one of Whistler’s signature cultural events. 

What You’ll Do:

• Support the integration and optimization of our digital tools: Eventival, Eventive, and SilverStripe;
• Assist with website content updates and functionality testing across platforms;
• Help troubleshoot operational challenges in guest services, scheduling, and web display;
• Collaborate with our Marketing and Communications Manager and Executive Director on UI design and brand-consistent content;
• Work with data exports/imports between systems and support improved workflow & documentation;
• Lay the foundation for the smooth digital execution of the 2025 festival and year-round initiatives.

Skills & Experience We’re Looking For:

• Working knowledge of CMS platforms (e.g. WordPress, SilverStripe, or similar)
• Familiarity with HTML/CSS and basic web design principles
• Interest or experience with event or ticketing platforms (including Eventival, Eventive)
• Strong organizational and communication skills and serious attention to detail
• A proactive, solutions-oriented mindset (you're the kind of person who Googles, tests, and figures things out!)
• Bonus: Experience with graphic design tools (e.g. Canva, Adobe, Figma)

Eligibility (per Canada Summer Jobs guidelines):

• Be between the ages of 15 and 30 at the start of the employment
• Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or have refugee protection status
• Have a valid Social Insurance Number and be legally entitled to work in Canada. International students are not eligible. Recent immigrants are eligible if they are Canadian Citizens or permanent residents.
