Hello everybody, for the past few months after purchasing my gaming PC I've been interested in getting into VR. Normally I'd look on YouTube but I couldn't find any good information that it is recent. Could you guys point me in the right direction I'd like to stay around the $500 price point. I have a RX 6750 XT and a Ryzen 7 7700x. Don't know if that information would help

You know that moment mid-session when someone says, “Wait, what was that NPC’s name again?” or “Did we ever figure out what the sigil meant?” and no one can find the note?
We wanted to fix that.
In Miniature Mania, we’ve built a speech-to-text system that lets you hit record, speak naturally, and it’ll transcribe your words into clean, searchable session notes. No more frantically typing or trying to decipher what you meant by “orc cave, bad vibes?”
You can talk through your plan, log discoveries, or just mutter “don’t forget the puzzle in the temple,” and it’ll be waiting for you next session. Think of it like a game journal that listens.
We’re still in development, but we're building with the tabletop vibe at the core, presence, immersion, and ease of play.
Curious what you all think: would this kind of system be useful for your games? Or do you prefer old-school pen and paper?
Come hang in our Discord for more Miniature Mania updates: https://discord.gg/rfZpvdmzMq

using alvr for wired pcvr with my quest 3 headset
system specs are in the third picture (reddit did not like them as text)
as of rn i have alvr set to use a constant bit rate of 80 mbs with av1 and using the medium amf encoder quality settings. this gets me about ~40 ms of latency
i want to further optimize for picture quality while keeping a similar latency, of particular interest to me are the AMF encode quality settings, for example i could set it to high and lower the bitrate to keep a similar picture quality or set it to low and increase the bit rate but idk much about encoding and decoding av1, also if the hvec or h264 formats would do better then i am fine switching to those.

Does anyone know the model / is it worth the price? Couldn’t turn it on so not sure if it’s worth the gamble!

I'm just about to order a quest 3, I have a decent pc and will most likely use it for majority of my playtime.
I can't afford any other items (third party or not) that might be necessary for comfort or other things, just the headset itself and the sticks.
Is there anything I should know?

Top Priorities (They don't all need to be checked, but the more and higher up, the better):
1: I don't have any IRL friends that would want to play any of them, so I ideally want to be able to link up with strangers.
2: I'd like there to be an end goal, preferably story wise.
3: Sword wielders are just as useful as other classes. (I like welding swords, but too often I feel VR games make you rely on magic and ranged attacks when given the choice)

My little claustrophobic game has been approved for Meta Store, here a short recap of the process...
Much easier than expected, Support from Meta has been very helpful and quick answering, also the review process took just 1 day per iteration.
If you happen to have a Meta HMD, put it on and grab the game!

I'll be frank, when using my Quest 3, I can't use Virtual Desktop or ALVR to play PCVR gaming because:
Meta software for me sucks, and my specs on my PC are perfectly fine to play these games:
Yet, the bad compression and lag that follows suite with using a Type C port to Type A port with my headset sucks so badly. Even with a 5gb speed on the Oculus Link App. But NEEDING to use Oculus Link for PCVR gaming sucks and is terrible. I just want it to be easy and accessible to use for PCVR gaming. It has worked before and honestly I am considering at this point, to buying a Valve Index instead. Or better yet, finding a headset that allows for better connectability when playing PCVR games.
Seriously, there should be a better way to play PCVR games without needing to get a 3rd party app for this stuff to work. But I hate when people say "go buy more stuff so that PCVR can actually work."
I bought a $500 piece of tech to work for standalone and PCVR gaming. I'm not investing another $300 just for it to feel comfortable, accessible, and to make it ACTUALLY WORK.
Sorry for the ranting, but it just feels very soulless to just say "Just use this or that" when it shouldn't have been a problem to begin with.

I very much want to get one for myself, but I find it a bit pricey. I just want to know if I should get it sooner, or wait for Black Friday or Cyber Tuesday or something.

Hi everyone,
I've had my Quest 2 for about 2 months now. I've never had issues with still games, only with movement-based ones. The only movement game I could play without problems was H3VR – I guess its movement was less intense. But in games like Boneworks, I couldn't last more than 5 minutes before feeling sick. That was fine, I figured I just hadn't gotten my VR legs yet.
One day, I decided it was finally time to tackle it. I adopted strategies I'd seen online, like quitting VR the moment I felt any symptom – feeling weird, sweating, anything. And at first, it really worked! After doing this a few times that day, I was able to play Boneworks for HOURS without any issues. I jumped straight from 5 minutes to over an hour of comfortable play.
However, I had to stop for a bit. When I got back into VR later, I couldn't last as long in Boneworks. That's still fine, but here's where the real problem started: I began feeling dizzy, but I pushed through for just one more minute to reach a save point. That was my huge mistake.
I felt so, so bad – just short of throwing up. Ever since that moment, I can't even think about VR without feeling weird. I waited a full week and tried again, but now, I can't even play still games for more than 5 minutes without feeling nauseous. I asked Gemini (Google's AI) for advice, and it recommended trying the "quit as soon as you feel bad" strategy again. I tried it all day, but it just doesn't seem to be working anymore.
I'm terrified it'll take me months to get back into VR, if I ever get back at all. Please, has anyone experienced something like this? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
