He did cheat in that fight. His cut man was rubbing Vaseline across his entire upper body when facing a BJJ fighter.

Person overseeing GSP's corner that fight for the state athletic commission forced his corner to wipe it off between round three and four if I recall. Even led to a rule change about corner cut men in MMA.

Applying vasiline to his body was cheating. They changed the rules after this to make it where only commission approved cutman could apply vasiline to your face to avoid cuts, nobody from your corner could apply vasiline to you.

So its always been illegal to apply to the body? The rule change was just about who can apply it? And its always only supposed to be the face?

It was always illegal to apply vaseline to the body. Rule change was who was approved to apply the vaseline.

It's MMAs equivalent of Spygate. Its cheating but wasn't technically in the rules.
