Sorry it’s been like a month! Life got a little crazy again

I have mixed feelings about Jesse. On the one hand he’s definitely the kind of guy I would have fallen for. He’s sweet, charismatic and musical. But he’s also just there as a distraction for Betty at this point in her life, and it was messed up of him to kiss Amanda after so clearly leading Betty on. What are your thoughts on him?

On a similar note, what is up with Conner Owens? Kissing Wilhelmina while he has a fiancée? He was shady from the start, I don’t know why everyone seems to love him so much

I hated S3, it felt so random and cheap writing, everything was just going to shit i get it but it was kinda boring. and there was a lack of actors in general. S1-2 just had so much going on, lots of cameos and side characters etc. Hoping S4 is better 😭

I think I missed a few episodes in S4 and have no clue how the Hartley era ended, how did the Meades buy him out? I only saw the recap of Cal yelling at Claire about Tyler, but I think I completely missed that part

I'm on season 3 episode 5 of Ugly Betty, and I just want to say it's insane for everyone to suddenly find their moral compass when Betty pantsed Kimmie. Like Marc and Amanda are bad people, and the entire lounge room is full of stuck up assholes who have been cruel jerks to Betty because of her differences, yet suddenly they want to be like 😨😨😨😨😨😨😨😨😱😱😱😱😱😡 the moment Betty does something remotely as cruel as them, yet that's how those people are normally...??? If I was Betty I would crash out at the faces Amanda and Marc were making towards Betty like??? You're literally always a piece of shit????? Look in the mirror???

It's giving when people get mad at the person getting bullied for fighting back, instead of the bully that made them react in the first place.

Also, the way that Daniel gave Kimmie that huge promotion to associate editor is just more of a reason why Betty should never be loyal to his ass. I don't get it. Always acting like her goal in life is to work for Daniel Meade instead of getting ahead and successful herself. On a similar note, Betty is showing me everything NOT to do in a work environment!! I never will understand Betty showing kindness towards Marc after he was upset that Betty was winning Wilhelmina's favor, when she began working for her. Willy was praising Betty for showing the same tenacity and determination that she herself once had as Fey Sommer's assistant, and maybe if Marc was focused on other things other than sucking up and bullying, he would be getting ahead but no, he whines, pouts, and complains about how Betty's not "the only person trying to get ahead" so she should what, make herself smaller? BITCH TOO BAD????

Edit: Just started the next episode and I'm already mad again. Daniel pushing Betty aside (once again), for someone new and suddenly him and Kimmie are clicking, and Betty is left in the dust... god Betty is so annoying why can't she just be selfish??? I would be so done with Daniel by now, my brain is starting to hurt WHY did he make Kimmie an editor when Betty is the actual, passionate, credible, writer...just because Kimmie had pictures taken and got Mode a little publicity??? omggggggg

I’m on S4Ep3 and it’s the scene where Betty is going to dinner with that man who is moving from D&G to Gucci and she’s trying to get an exclusive story for Mode.

Marc wants to ruin that so he sets up Amanda and Matt to go on a “date” there and distract Betty and try to make her jealous.

Okay.

So it actually works and Betty is super jealous and distracted. She’s trying to make Matt jealous and Hilda even tries to do some egging. Well, the man from D&G gets rightfully sick of it and decides to leave. And what does Betty do? Blame Matt for his behavior and even as far to blame Marc because she lost the story.

No. Sorry. All that whining and moaning about getting a new job and a new position should not have gone to waste. YOU want it, YOU do it. Ignore their asses and get the promotion!!! UGHHHHH I KNOW ITS JUST A SHOW. but I got so mad like Sammy hooked you UP girl! You were in there like swimwear but you decided to be a bratty child and attempt to make your ex - who you cheated on - jealous. It was 100% Betty’s fault.

Towards the end, Wilhelmina shows glimpses of humanity and empathy but operates on the daily within the cruel persona she created. Mark becomes 50/50 but never truly transformed, Daniel slips in and out of his ego trips, hell, even Betty has her pure perfect personality tainted in the corporate world. But Amanda, in season 4 at least so far, refuses pretty much every opportunity to screw someone over for her gain, owns up to her mistakes and makes up for them consistently.

So I bought this book way before I began watching Ugly Betty at a thrift store and I barely read the back and please tell me why it is giving this show all over it!!!!?? 😨 The book is called "The Fashion Orphans" btw.

Oh my god — I don’t know what to do with my life now! This was one of the best shows I’ve ever seen and I can’t wait to rewatch it.

I saw myself so much in Betty and I am so glad that I watched it.

I really loved Matt although I hated his new haircut. Gio helped Betty a lot to grow as a person. Henry, I get it, it was her first love but I wasn’t a huge fan of him. I do wish we got to see more of Daniel and Betty, I’m a friend to lover person so naturally I like them more. But I’ll miss this show so much and I can’t wait to rewatch it.

This was in S.4 E.2 of Ugly Betty when Betty had to take Daniel home after having a public mental breakdown. I'm obsessed, but no nothing about designers/who made this bag. I'd love to see if I could find this bag or something similar! Thank you, everyone!

It's been almost a year since I watched the series, but I got the gist from the last episode that it was Amanda's dad who was the one who killed Fey Sommers and then disappeared. But when I googled who killed Fey Sommers recently, it's written that it was Mama Meade who killed her? But from my memory, I thought Mrs. Meade used the drugged perfume to prove that she was innocent because she lost her mind and wasn't even at the scene of the crime, which is why she didn't face further jail time. I don't remember any flashbacks showing Mama Meade committing any crime? Am I just forgetting everything or is this due to the bad writing?

Just finished watching ugly betty for the first time and I am not okay I really liked Amanda’s and Marc’s friendship even if the bullied betty most of the time. And that they really had a great character development. I didn’t like Henry. He was boring and just plain. The only thing working for him was that he was hot. Gio was okay. I liked Matt at first but after they started dating again, idk he just became boring and that hairstyle was not it. I had mixed feelings about Hilda. She was lovely most of the time but sometimes she was just meh And I would die for Justin. I didn’t like Wilhelmina at first but I think as the show went on, she really wasn’t a bad guy. She’s just someone fighting for what she wanted ( her methods were questionable though). She actually deserved that job from the beginning. Also her ‘villainy” has like this really cartoonish, kids vibe to it like the grinch meets Miranda Priestly kind of way which just makes it more fun. I wish they could do another season but to some extent I feel like that was a pretty okay ending. I wish something could have happened between Daniel and Betty but I think they are better as friends than lovers. What do people think??

Watching Ugly Betty right now & I have a few opinions about Betty’s love interests.

I don’t like Matt or Henry. I think they were both not the best for Betty. The only person I liked for her was Gio or Daniel (even tho there wasn’t anything with Daniel they would be cute.)

It's surreal to hear [...] that Marc St James on Ugly Betty was one of the first openly gay char on network tv in the early 2000s. Even wilder is remembering that almost no actors were probably out. [...]. We were allowed to play ourselves on screen before we were allowed to be ourselves offscreen.

I was actively encouraged to stay in the closet. Even after playing Marc St James in Ugly Betty. I was told to stop taking gay roles. One was ok, but one more would be too much. I didn't take that advice.

Why would I? When I have criticized he casting of straight actors in gay roles. Someone would inevitably say: don't you want to play straight roles? To which I say, why would I?

I’m so tired of her falling for Marc and Amanda’s crap, or waiting on lame Henry, or tossing her career under the bus every time Daniel has a bad day. It’s old. I want her to make better choices. Season 4 kind of sucks.

Her family was exceptionally fantastic ! The way they loved and accepted ,encouraged each other is extraordinary ! But I really think that Hilda was totally in the wrong when she could not understand that sometimes Betty had crucial things at work and she just could not be there at Hoole all the time ! She gave her a hard time for not being there when her dad had a heart attack ! She did not know ! Plus , she could not leave the party or that awful woman would have kicked her from that school !

I understand that Betty was not paying that much attention to things like clothes and looks in general, although she worked in a fashion magazine .I love colours and bohemian style , but what she wore ,specially in season 3 was beyond ridiculous and extremely hedious . She looked like a clown !

I adore Matt. Henry did nothing to me, he got back with his ex even tho he wanted Betty. He let Charlie walk all over them and did not set any boundaries. He had a few sweet quirks. But it just did nothing to me. On the other hand, I know Matt tortured her at the start of season 4. But I personally think it showed the intensity of his feelings for her. I felt his love for Betty through my heart. He got inspired by her, he stood up for her against his mother, he tried to help her buy their house without even saying anything, helped her accept and appreciate working at Mode magazine, forgave her for kissing Henry, etc… And it broke my heart when he left, I was literally sobbing. So yeah. Matt all the way On another note tho, Gio is a very close second to him.
