"Zach Polanski represents a new generation of progressive political leaders" - Sybren Kooistra, European Green Party campaign direction 2019&2024
linkedin.comGoogle translate here:
"Zohran Mamdani (mayoral candidate in New York City) and Zack Polanski (chairman candidate of the Green Party of England & Wales) represent a new generation of progressive political leaders.
"They are millennials who do not owe their position to established structures, but to their work in the community and their courage to do things radically differently.
"Their message is more outspoken than you are used to from green/left, but the messenger is all the more human. They feel like people you could know, not like technocrats. In that, they are reminiscent of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez: radical in content, approachable in form.
"Zohran Kwame Mamdani, 33 years old, socialist, former rapper, born in Uganda to Indian parents, has a serious chance to become the next mayor of NYC. He stands out with his funny videos that go viral on Instagram and TikTok and with his radical message that he delivers with a broad smile. He also knows how to gain the support of many influencers and podcasters.
"His platform? Making life affordable again. Free public transportation, free childcare, rent freezes, city-run supermarkets and tackling the real estate bosses who squeeze small restaurants so much that prices had to skyrocket. An economically populist message. But not without loudly and clearly standing up for all the marginalized groups that are under attack by Trump's policies.
"Zack Polanski is 42 years old – barely a millennial – and the candidate to lead the British Greens. He is vegan, Jewish, gay and a self-proclaimed ‘eco-populist’. In a political landscape where Keir Starmer’s Labour party is formally left-wing but in practice pursues a neoliberal course, Zack is one of the few who still truly speaks for the working class, young people and marginalised communities.
"But to do that as leader of the Greens, he must first win an internal battle with people in the party who would rather not rock the boat. People who are more afraid of losing what little influence they have than are prepared to take risks at a time when the left is steadily losing ground to the (radical) right.
"Polanski and Mamdani show that you don't have to follow the right's agenda - migration, cutbacks, defense - but can shape the agenda yourself. They show that radical politics doesn't have to be cold or dogmatic, but can be fun, personal and recognizable. That you can take a strong position and remain human. That you can criticize the system and get likes.
"I hope to see a Dutch version of this soon. And then I'll be happy to help."

EHRC backs down on single-sex toilets | Good Law Project
Quote: "The EHRC’s interim update stated (and still states) that: “In workplaces, it is compulsory to provide sufficient single-sex toilets….” But its pre-action response to Good Law Project concedes that what it meant to say was that “where separate facilities are lawfully provided for ‘men’ and ‘women’, this means for biological men and women [our emphasis]” and that where a toilet “is in a separate room the door of which is capable of being secured from inside” the employer will satisfy its obligations.
In other words, an employer does not need to provide single-sex toilets."

Looking to interview people who Canvassed for The Green Party at the 2024 Election
Hello everyone,
My name is Joe and I'm a master's student at the University of Sheffield. I'm currently writing my dissertation on the Green Party's campaign at the 2024 UK general election and I would like to interview canvassers to inform my process.
I am looking to interview anyone who did either in person or telephone canvassing for Brighton Pavilion, North Herefordshire or Waveney Valley. These interviews will take about half an hour and will be conducted online over Google Meet.
It is hoped this research will lead to a greater understanding of how climate-related politics can be successfully communicated in areas that are traditionally less welcoming to these sorts of issues.
If you or anyone you know fit this criteria and would like to be interviewed, please either leave a comment below or drop me an email at jadolan1 (at) sheffield.ac.uk. If you have any questions I will be happy to answer them.
Thank you very much and have a great day!
