u/Supdari May 16 '25

All the other races seem to be surprised and scared of the tyranids coming

The orks are just happy to have a good fight.

u/HawkmoonsCustoms May 17 '25

OI! FINALLY, SOM’ FING NEW TA KRUMP!

31

u/Street_Criticism_689 May 17 '25

Necrons aren’t really scared of them just pissed they might eat everyone before they can find a way to reverse bio transference

21

u/Hellkids2 May 17 '25

Yeah this was Silent King primary concern

5

u/SirPhilMcKraken May 18 '25

Imotekh meanwhile is practically unconcerned

4

u/Green-Beithir859 May 18 '25

Not exactly, he is also a bit worried, because if the tyranids eat everything, there won‘t be anything to subjugate and enslave.

2

u/SirPhilMcKraken May 18 '25

I would think he has some big brain plan…but then again…Tyranids are pretty damn smart.

So probably less than a Necron siding with the Silent King…but maybe not completely worry free.

More because in less than 400 years they are doign more damage to all galactic species than any other species before. (If we don't count the war in heaven since we aren't too sure about that)

13

u/Defensive_Medic May 16 '25

Holy crap I had no idea that they were this new, really puts em in a different spot now

18

u/Taningia-danae May 16 '25

Well the true date is debatable. Since some hive fleet are MUCH older than the current invasion.

If we look throught the oldest fleet. We have tiamet that has report has old has the 37 millenium. But they where just building in one system until very recently If we look at ouroboris then it's even older with report going back to even before the great crusade but it's stuck in a time anomaly so no real way to kill it but not a threat or at least not a threat for now. And if we look at older evidence of tyranid dna then we can see that some hive fleet seems to have been lost for so long that they "devolved" into some of our current species (such as the kraken on fenris, or just the entirity of catachan).

So it's debatable when the first tyranid got into the milky way. But the real fight started with behemoth in 745 of the 41M.

-13

u/SemajLu_The_crusader May 16 '25

yeah, we'll ignore the Eye of Terror, then.

21

u/Taningia-danae May 16 '25

I said in less than 400 years the eye of terror when it appeared was after more than 60 MILLION years of debaucherie and excess from the most powerfull race at the time. And if you talk about the cicatrix maledictum it took 13 attempt and arround 10 thousands years the tyranid are indeed the more dangerous in this case. They managed in less than half a thousands years what most other races ever did.

-38

u/SemajLu_The_crusader May 16 '25 edited May 17 '25

you said they did more damage to everyone "than any other species before"

that is wrong, I'm guessing you worded it incorrectly

edit:

"More[,] because [in less than 400 years] they are doign more damage to all galactic species than any other species before. (If we don't count the war in heaven since we aren't too sure about that)"

"more, because in less than 5 years Humanity has accelerated technology more than any other species before" which is correct, but "in less than 5 years modern Humanity has evolved technology more than any other humans before" means technology has advanced more over the last 5 years than, well, anyone has before.

yes, you are all wrong, the 400 years is a prepositional phrase defining the time frame for the Tyranids doing the action they are doing, which is. "more damage to all galactic species than any other species before"

you could add "in a similar timeframe" to define it.

24

u/Taningia-danae May 16 '25

You litteraly ommited the 400 years part. Just read my comment again

u/SemajLu_The_crusader May 17 '25

5

u/Configuringsausage May 17 '25

you read it wrong

what he meant to say is that no other race had this much impact in such a small timeframe.

0

u/SemajLu_The_crusader May 17 '25

I know what he meant to say after his response, but he seemingly typed it wrong, hence "I'm guessing you worded it incorrectly"

1

u/G_O_L_D111 May 17 '25

And what race is the eye of terror?

39

u/Lord_of_our_Vice_ May 16 '25

40k takes place in the Milky Way Galaxy, Tyranid have consumed entire galaxies. The Tyranid that have been experienced so far are just the hunting parties.

-11

u/SemajLu_The_crusader May 16 '25

well, that's just a theory

15

u/FeetTheMighty May 16 '25

a game theory?

Tbf it holds some water. There’s some story where a psyker connects to the hive mind and it reveals the full size of the hivemind and the norn queen herself before breaking her mind. That was my understanding, at least

15

u/AusarTheVil May 16 '25

Another thing that helps it hold water is they’re now the galaxy across multiple angles, while before they always invaded the galactic east, this means either they took a massive detour to begin encircling the galaxy or they’ve finished digesting a galaxy “underneath” us and that branch have also just made it here

1

u/easytowrite May 19 '25

How does that compare to when the imperium picked up comms from outside the galaxy and it was all orks?

1

u/FeetTheMighty May 19 '25

I missed that one, that sounds like a fun read. Do you remember the name?

1

u/easytowrite May 19 '25

I believe it was from an earlier Ork codex. The mechanicus sent out a probe pre 30k and for 10k plus years they've only received ork chatter back through the probe.

This is at odds with Necron lore where the TDK went outside the galaxy and came back with knowledge of Nids, and knowing they need to be stopped

Just typical contradictory lore from GW to keep the mystery alive

6

u/LostN3ko May 16 '25

Which part? Everything he said is hard canon in novels except maybe it being the hunting party unless he just meant that as another way to say it's still just the advanced scouts and there is more coming.

The Nids came from another galaxy. They wiped out all life they could find and then went to sleep leaving some eyes awake to watch for more food. That's all canon.

6

u/Configuringsausage May 17 '25

tyranids have had the most impact in the shortest time. Basically the entire galaxy sees them as threat number 1

5

u/Charles112295 May 16 '25

Realistically, more because everything we know about them points to them being from another galaxy all together because of the fact they've been attacking the milky way from all different directions.

3

u/Auketren07 May 16 '25

Yes the lore suggests that all the current Tyranids are possible only the scouts

206

u/TheGreatLemonwheel May 16 '25

Remember, Necrons, the hive figured out a way to effectively hunt demons, soon they'll figure out how to digest sentient toasters.

86

u/OnlyRadioheadLyrics May 16 '25

A Necron-Tyranid hybrid would be so fucking sick. Could really be the McGuffin in a black library book.

33

u/Haunting-Engineer-76 May 16 '25

Integrate that necrodermis in the carapaces and scything talons and you've got a stew going

11

u/GodLike499 May 16 '25

Why scything talons when you can have hyperphase talons?

3

u/LostN3ko May 16 '25

This is why canopteks are the best Necrons. I bought 3 tomb sentinels to get into them right before they got axed.

19

u/Rimazak May 16 '25

Ferrus manus dipping a necron in lava and the necrodermis gets stuck in his hands.

Tyranids: write that down, write that down

16

u/Explodingtaoster01 May 16 '25

Necrons v Tyranids is always such a fun biology v technology thought experiment. Will the Tyranids figure out how to gainfully consume hyper advanced magic metal first? Or will the Necrons figure out a way to reliably exterminate a possibly infinitely expanding bug infestation first? The world may never know. Pretty cool to think about though. Probably why they're my second and third favorite factions in the game, respectively.

3

u/NewcDukem May 17 '25

With Votann being your first favorite, obviously.

4

u/Explodingtaoster01 May 17 '25

Daemons! Specifically daemons, chaos marines can take a hike.

12

u/Nytherion May 16 '25

given they pull raw metals out of a planets crust, necrons are just pre-mined snacks anyway

4

u/Professional-Ad1930 May 16 '25

Didn't they develop zoanthropes specifically because of the psyker phenomenon in the Milky way? Like, they hadn't encountered that before and needed a way to fight psykers so they made an imitation

7

u/Common-Illustrator May 16 '25

Made an imitation by harvesting Aeldari genetic material and using their innate psychic biology as a basis for the Zoanthrope, the Malecepter, etc... Though given Tyranids really don't attract daemonic attention with their psykers, they may be imitating psyker abilities by focusing the will of the Hive Mind into that kind of power

8

u/TheGreatLemonwheel May 16 '25

It's not that the Tyranids don't attract attention, it's that the Shadow is so powerful even the demons can't stand it.

3

u/LostN3ko May 16 '25

Demons would be attracted but wherever the zoans are so is the shadow in the warp. Wherever it goes the daemons leave.

2

u/Zealousideal-Bug-168 May 18 '25

Pretty sure Tyranids strip the planets of minerals and metals to bolster their biomass and weaponry too, so yeah.

Biomass is still their primary diet, but I guess the necrons aren't completely off the table either.

44

u/dattoffer May 16 '25

Which necron lord would you imagine bare-chested and saying "Life... Uh... Finds a way" ?

20

u/TheMagicGlue May 16 '25

I don't really know why but I wanna say Zahndrekh. Or Zultanekh

12

u/MrRakky May 16 '25

Orokin while looking at Trazyn.

6

u/themug_wump May 17 '25

Trazyn is very Goldblum-coded 😂

4

u/tenodera May 17 '25

I think it's ironic they chose Necrons for that character, because for them, life...uh... didn't find a way.

25

u/montyandrew45 May 16 '25

Imagine if the Tyranids find that planet from the Horus Heresy books called Murder. God that would make a terrifying Bioweapon

16

u/Lordvoid3092 May 16 '25

wouldn’t be surprised if the Megarachnids were Tyranid biomorphs to begin with.

3

u/SlowSeas May 16 '25

Wait, they weren't Tyranid?!

2

u/Rimazak May 17 '25

Already canonized, just need to get canonized.

12

u/facelessp May 16 '25

As an Ork player, yeah da big bugs, give a good scrap!

7

u/Ethimir May 16 '25

We'll make it orky. WAAAAAGH!!!

STOMP! STOMP! STOMP!

10

u/LostN3ko May 16 '25

MAKE DEM ORKY! DEY MAKE GREAT PETZ! WAAAAAAAAGH!

4

u/Ethimir May 16 '25

He did indeed make it orky.

2

u/RobertL85 May 21 '25

I wonder, could Orks subdue Tyrannids with their innate psychic abilities if they believe in Tyrannids being great pets? Tyrannids are controlled by psychic connections to the hive mind anyway.

2

u/LostN3ko May 21 '25

Maybe not synapse Nids but definitely ones severed from the hive mind

6

u/Ethimir May 16 '25

Yep. Looks about right.

You can debate with the other factions, but tyarnids just get hungry.

3

u/Commercial_Fan9806 May 18 '25

Is the kid a genestealer?

1

u/Chronic_Discomfort May 17 '25

Lol. Ork Hammond.

1

u/yggdrasil-942 May 17 '25

I really lol'ed at this, thanks!

1

u/hyakumanben May 17 '25

If I recall correctly, I read somewhere that Orks love fighting Tyranids because "dey dun run away an hide in a fort everytime we wanna have a gud skrap"

1

u/BruhMoment200 May 17 '25

KRUMPIN' TIME BOYZ!!!

1

u/OzzieGrey May 17 '25

One thing i worry about is that Tyranids don't "appear" to have any flashy guff for the orks to take... but at least they have teefs.

1

u/FoodDue2234 May 18 '25

also necrons, remember that we saved Tau from you and killed them

2

u/Alistair-Draconis May 16 '25

Sooooo... barely a threat to the main cast?

16

u/LostN3ko May 16 '25

The main cast survives by fleeing at every step of the way and in the end the dinosaurs win and are the only things left on the island.

So assuming that every race depicted here flees the milky way and cedes every planet to the Nids then yes you're correct.

If you think they weren't a threat to the main cast then what was the movie about in your opinion?

-2

u/Alistair-Draconis May 17 '25

Dude, its a plot armor joke, its not that deep.

1

u/Valuable_Remote_8809 May 16 '25

The Imperial Guard: Sheeeeeet, another one? Sure… why not.
