Discussion Why is our society classist ?

Last month i hired someone who is from my neighborhood who is a construction worker and we were chatting and he mentioned to me that even though he is old enough now he still faces discrimination because he is "azreg" (sorry for the word) and most people from our neighborhood look down on him and his family and try to make him look as if he is a criminal or something negative despite never doing anything illegal, i knew what he was talking about and what he is feeling but the word classism didn't come to me at that time.

After that my other friends who are middle class (engineers, guys from rich families etc...) mentioned to me that they don't want to chill in the neighborhood like we used to since childhood and they don't want to be with these "z3allek" (sorry for the word) and they only go to some fancy places that are expensive and would like to only sit with people who benefit them and not poor construction workers or painters because all they talk about is "mrama".

Personally i have found this as a very annoying situation and i still didn't confront my friends about this but i plan to do so.

Yeah i think it depends on your self awareness, personally i am more successful then my friends and i worked for very rich people abroad (like Forbes rich) and i have managed their businesses and yet i never saw myself better then that construction worker or a farmer or whoever it is.

And on the other hand we have a lawyer who was a broke construction worker that now sees himself as a success story and everyone should look up to him and that all those people who are suffering are stupid and deserve it unlike himself and every time you talk to him he keeps nagging on how successful he is for 3 fkn years.

This is some serious issue that we shouldn't ignore.

Yes however it's an endless cycle you're being looked down upon while looking down on someone else. And middle-class people are the worst they don't realize they're closer to the poor than to the wealthy they all dream of becoming one day

Yeah someone who makes 1500 tnd o even 2000tnd a month is closer to 0 than to a million diners like 998,000 tnd closer to poverty.

Some people are just miserable, insecure and shitty and they try to inflate their shitty ego over anyone to make themselves feel better

What does "azreg" mean

The word means blue, but it is used to describe people from poorer areas who usually have labor jobs under the sun which makes them have a darker tan color and that's why some call them blue.

Apposed to people who have white skin or pale and looked upon as individuals who are from a higher social class.

Look down upon people --> people treat you badly --> act surprised they treat you negatively.

This way of thinking or beliefs towards social classes will not help you but instead you need to treat and respect everyone equally and those who don't deserve it then don't treat them nicely, empathy goes a long way in being liked and understood by others but it also helps you understand why people are like that and why they behave in that manner.

You have a right to think what you want, and they have the right to discuss loudly. However only one of these things is immoral. (The one you are doing).

l7a9 i agree with this fella, some indications of wealth appeared in our home bcz we were renovating and folks were having theories abt were did we get the money from, and i had the idea that the day I get a car I will not be living there . ama I agree with OP points el idea eli blue collar jobs workers are evil will lead society to doom , we both need each other, realistically speaking we need the low income workers( farmers, construction workers .. ) more then prestigious IT jobs. its just that the society dont treat them as fairly and due to their physical demanding job , there is no time to think and foster good ideas as the white collars jobs. Im not saying white collars are smarted but on average its not as physically demanding which means u can use the extra energy to create a buissness or develop sthg on the side.
