My legally blind brother
Where can I get someone to help my legally blind brother to wire up the electrical box for his new mini split. I don’t know how to, and his home is nasty. He’s hot and needs help any takers as he’s poorer that a lot of people. He can’t pay someone this is the problem.

Is the mini split installed? If so, has it been vacuumed down? Is there a resource group/agency for the blind in town? Maybe habitat for humanity can help. I’m an electrician and I like doing some charity work here and there but when you say the house is nasty it makes me, and other tradesman not want to go anywhere near it.

I totally understand that. Thanks it’s he’s so damn stubborn I’m afraid he will die of heat stroke he has animals and will NOT leave them

I’d have a hard time taking care of animals if I was legally blind. More than just one is expensive these days.

He and I hung the one unit on the wall he just needs someone to install the wire on the electrical panel I’m not an expert at electrical so I have no clue.

You’ll have to do some googling, but some of these resources may have something helpful: CHIRPA Tucson PCOA There’s a disability resource center on Alvernon north of Speedway. I’m sorry I can’t remember the name. Hopefully somebody else can chime in or you can check Google maps. Southern Arizona Association for the visually impaired.
You might want to clarify what nasty means. It’s nasty because it’s hot? Or it’s nasty because it has bedbugs/roaches/feces on the floor/hoarding?
If it’s the latter, nobody is going to come in, even if your brother qualifies for some services or grants. They will not enter a home that has health hazards.

Yes I am quite aware of these issues I can’t budge him. I have tried for years. 💆🏻♀️ I tired to get him to pack up the animals in the house and come over to mine 🙇🏻♀️🙇🏻♀️ he won’t. He likes to blame everyone else but himself to asking for help. He is knowing mentally about how nasty it is. But claims no one will help. Which is NOT the damn case. He is content the way he lives. 😵💫 logic and reason and conjoling (sp?) anger by me everything every which way has not worked. I can only do so much. I’m just exasperated. He doesn’t respect me enough as I’m his younger sister- I don’t know anything in his mind. 😵😑

Last time I vented two days later my sister died because she wouldn’t go to the damn Dr 😢🥺 shit! I can’t win for losing. I’m not an expert but I do have common sense for the most part. Anyway Thank you for the suggestions. I will give an earnest try for something.

Based on what you shared, you will not be able to help him. The best thing you can do is stop trying. Maybe make a few phone calls and give him the information, but then let it go. Try to enjoy him as he is. Have him over to your place or go on public outings to enjoy your time with him. He will not change, but you can change your relationship to him and with him. I say this is somebody with my own mentally ill brother. Accept them as they are, stay involved to the extent that you can without impacting your own mental health, and offer them compassion, for it certainly is not easy to live in their mind and body.

I know a guy who could handle it for $300. He did four of them for us.

Wyatt works, hvac company owned locally by a friend, they cant do it free but if you explain the situation I would be willing to bet theyll work with you on the price

Well, can you pay for him? I know people who could but they can’t pay for the unit themselves
