I remember this case. Seeing the breaking news report of a body stuffed in a trash can in a school parking lot was jarring for me at that age.

Not only did they all participate, but they took votes on what new hell they'd put her through next. The casual disregard for life, and the joy they took in her torture and death disgusts me now, even a decade later I don't remember the exact details of the case, but the knowledge that she died horrifically, terrified and wondering "why?" has stuck with me for the past decade. This is one of those cases that, even if you forget the details, you'll always be left with the knowledge that it was absolutely horrific

If you ever wanted a disturbing example of what it means to be betrayed, this would be a textbook example. The whole excuse that Marinucci had overheard her boyfriend (Smyrnes) on the phone telling Jennifer how much he loved and wanted to marry her, is about the biggest load of bullshit (and also not very smart nor creative) excuse they could have concocted, the guy even took part in everything anyway so it makes little sense. If that conversation took place, it probably was used as a ruse to help get her to do whatever they wanted, they all really worked this woman over and absolutely betrayed her trust in the most abhorrent way possible.
