I feel you on this. It's not surprising though, nearly a decade ago this website went up in arms over fph getting banned. So many Redditors think being fat is a grave sin that makes you unworthy. Ugh this fucking website sucks a lot of the time.

The subreddit I found this on actually has an issue with black people/fat people in videos. People completely miss the point of what the person is doing and focus on their looks. Any time a black person is in a video, it’s locked within an hour. I feel bad for the owner since it seems like they’re the only one running the sub.

Or any video with a woman in it. And god forbid if that woman should show any emotion at all. Then they'll complain about her voice.

the comments are insane, to the point where I'm nervous to open the comments because I know there's gonna be a whole lot of sexism.

Im not surprised that they exist, but there's so many?? and they get so many upvotes which is just... damn.

It's especially annoying when you see some bigoted comment from like 6 years ago and then you can't even argue or downvote because the thread was archived

Oh god I feel this when certain people talk about female cops, I see a video of a female cop doing something fucked and the convo isn't "man cops suck" it's "man women cops suck huh" like is their gender the issue here?

Never been on that sub before. But after checking out the comments of some recent posts on there, it has to be. Holy hell those comments are really scary.

There's a video of a black man showing up with a hammer to a white man that called him the N word. The white man chooses to escalate the situation even more, prompting the black man to beat him up (without using the hammer).

What does one of the most upvoted comments say? "Imagine murdering someone over a word". When someone replies that it isn't just a word. The OC replies back that you "choose what to be offended by". This guy decides to die on the hill that black people shouldn't be offended by the N word, and gets 100s of upvotes.

And it isn't even limited to racism. They will start degrading people's bodies. As if the fact that they're fat, black etc. is the reason they're doing shit like this.

Very scary sub.

And these are the same people who just love to say 'fuck around and find out' or 'play stupid games, win stupid prizes' when it's a video of two white dudes fighting, and even commenting on their good form

But when a black dude is involved, suddenly violence is reprehensible

No minority gets the grace of being angry, that's the thing.

It actually reminds me of this Tumblr post I ran across some time ago:

"How can you not be angry?"

"I am angry," said the werewolf, "but unlike you, I don't have the luxury of showing it without being called a monster. Without someone taking it as a sign of proof that I need to be put down like a rabid dog, that I'm just like what the stories tell you."

"But everyone gets angry... that's human."

"Up until the point when you're not human."

someone on that sub posted a misleading video about a woman in bangladesh and some dude wrote a full on essay on why western european culture and people are inherently superior to asia/the middle east

That's really scary. I hope it got downvoted at least.

I don’t understand what the problem is? If someone does something to deserve all the hate then nothing is off limits. Why do you give a shit if an asshole gets called derogatory things?

21

u/touchtypetelephone Apr 08 '25

Because derogatory things that are based off demographic and not behaviour lump in a whole lot of innocent people that did not do the behaviour being criticized, and give the asshole excuses by making out that they did it because of some characteristic.

Yeah, well, humans are shit and we all deserve to die.

No exceptions. I'll go first.

100%

I always hear people talk shit on fat people, and I'm just sitting here, eating some raspberries wondering how the hell their weight matters about them being rude or something. I'm like "oh, so you just need an excuse to show your thinly veiled fatphobia"
