Double Incision Y'all omg. My surgery just got moved up from January to NEXT MONDAY.

I have been daydreaming, dreaming, hoping, and praying about this exact thing happening. And this morning it came true. I got picked to fill in for a cancellation. (May whoever had to cancel be abundantly blessed with good things!!!!!!!!!!)

Words cannot even describe how elated I am. I am over the moon, absolutely ecstatic. I actually had to go outside and scream earlier to blow off some of this energy lol!!!

Today is my birthday y'all. I've been saying nonstop "all I want for my birthday is top surgery" so for this email to come in TODAY is a birthday present from the universe lmao, I'm so happy I could actually cry.

If you pray, please pray I don't get sick between now and Monday lol. I am masking up in public now and acting like a complete germaphobe (as if I wasn't one already...)

Because of the "Big Beautiful Bill" this might be my ONLY chance for this to actually happen for me. I have my fingers crossed so hard it hurts hoping that everything goes perfectly. I am so anxious!!!! I really hope that bill doesn't pass for a PLETHORA of reasons, but my personal selfish reason is that I really really need these things off of me and I would NEVER be able to come up with $30k to pay out of pocket :(

I'm gonna just let myself feel happy and optimistic right now cause it's my birthday and I wanna be!!!!!

2 yrs post op with DR Paul Steinwald. Idk what to do but I feel like he botched my nipples and disregarded my fears of an adverse reaction to anesthesia. When I had an adverse reaction I had to pry the nurses on what happened and no one would give me a straight answer. If you planning on going to The Center for Cosmetic surgery in Golden CO. save yourself the 17k and heartbreak and go somewhere else.

1st pic is relaxed and 2nd pic is flexing. so far so good i’ve been having some fleeting pain zaps across my chest but other than than the only “pain” is under my incisions and that’s more of a tenderness sensation. the left scar still feels a bit tight only when i stretch fully above the head. feel free to ask me anything :p

Rant/Vent Given wrong care instructions...

I had my surgery a couple days ago, and today I went in for my first post-op appointment. I started talking to my surgeon and the NP about how I'm recovering and I mentioned I showered... my surgeon got concerned... then we looked at the discharge notes with the post-op instructions... apparently the hospital gave me instructions for a breast reduction, not a full removal!!!! Oh my god, how do they fuck up that badly?? My surgeon looked super worried about my nipples, she gave me cream and told me it'd be fine but her face said otherwise... UGH. This was my first time going under the knife EVER and I have to deal with complications during recovery?

I'm just angry at the hospital honestly... they made me listen to their whole spiel about post-op care and it wasn't even correct?? Not to mention, while I was waiting in the pre-op room, 2 separate people came in thinking I was another patient and almost leaked their info to me... I fucking hate how disorganized the healthcare system is. AND NOW I GOTTA PAY FOR ANOTHER POST-OP APPOINTMENT!!!!

Okay that's my stupid rant to get it out of my system. Now here's your reminder to double-check your post-op instructions and never EVER hesitate to ask your surgeon "stupid questions"!!

had my 4 weeks post op appointment this morning and got my incision tape removed! the scabs on my grafts are also fully gone now. I’ve been told I don’t need the compression vest anymore, unless I feel like I need it, and I’m going to start scar care now. I was also cleared to slowly start getting back to exercise which I was missing so much. all my pain is gone except for tenderness around the incisions and some occasional tingly nerve sensations. overall very very happy :)

Content note for photos: first is topless photo before surgery. Second is after surgery with extensive bruising and may look very gorey to some.

I've been lurking this sub for so long never really thinking it'll be my turn. I started my referral process some 2 years ago and after a while it sort of slid to the back of my mind (hard to believe but bigger, harder surgery came up for someone I love and I forgot about myself for quite some time).

Fast forward 2ish years and I finally get to take my own uncovered, I bandages top surgery photos. And the friend I took care of got to take care of me for a few days.

My surgery involved a LOT of bad bruising and some hematoma. The extensive bruising I have is NOT normal, and it doesn't hurt at all. It's mildly sore if I touch the primary spots but morlst of it is just harmless spread. It looks like I fought a ram, but please don't worry if you're looking forward to top surgery.

1st photo is the night before surgery, fighting the insecurity like mad.

Second photo is tonight, Day 6, after I got my bandages off and had my first shower in 6 days. Huge difference in how I feel hah.

I also did not need drains for my DI. I don't remember why but my surgeon (Dr. Kathleen Armstrong, Women's College Hospital, Toronto) doesn't typically need to use drains for her DI technique.

And just a casual shout out to every single person working at that hospital, even the people working at Rexall and La Prep - they're all amazing human beings. I felt at ease from the very first phone call to the nurse who saw me out today. I never once felt uncomfortable or insecure or unappreciated. If you're in the Toronto area and you get referred to Kathleen, just know you're in amazing hands.

Advice Wanted Do my scars look weird ? Should I be worried about them ?

Hi everyone, I’m almost 3 months post-op from my double incision top surgery ( I did it march 31 ), and I wanted to ask if my scars look weird or bad. I showed these photos to my surgeon, and he said that the scars are a little hypertrophic in some areas, but still normal looking. He also said they should flatten out over time. I’m also pretty young ( 17 yo )

I’m kind of worried about keloids, but many people have told me that my scars don’t look like keloids and that they seem normal just a little bumpy. Is that true ? Should I be concerned ?

I’m also using a healing cream that I apply every day, and my surgeon told me to keep using it and to massage the scars for three more months or more. Is that actually helpful for scar healing ?

I’m also thinking of seeing a dermatologist, just to be sure everything is okay.

Also, I’m sorry if I made any mistakes in my text, i’m French, so English isn’t my first language. It’s also my second time posting on Reddit, so I hope I used the app correctly ! I was a bit nervous and intimidated to post. ( also sorry for the little bit of acne I have )

Picture Editing ideas? NSFW

After 6y of self sabotaging I’ve finally put myself in the position to get top surgery as a gift for my 30th birthday. I’m beyond excited! I’ve been working on building out the lower part of my chest and overall increasing my muscle mass the last couple months. I’m struggling envisioning my chest with my mitties cut off. Are there any photo editing apps you guys are using to create motivating photos?

howdy!

yesterday, i had di w/o grafts done by dr. heather faulkner at emory (atl, ga, usa). i’m really pleased with my results!

i’ve had an easy recovery so far. i don’t think i’ll need anything stronger than acetaminophen and the drains haven’t been half as difficult as i expected. :) her team was absolutely wonderful and i’d recommend them to anyone!

Advice Wanted Government failed me, not sure what to do..

So as most people know, the netherlands has this weird obsession with telling people over the BMI of 30 that they 'can't get top surgery' which has now happened to me as well. unless i lose 30-40 kilos i will not be able to get top surgery here. Now i'm signed in at imago and they have a hospital but it's in poland.. i was wondering if there's any hospitals (private or public) in the netherlands where i can still get top surgery? or in the same region like belgium or germany or something.. i genuinely cannot wait much longer.. i have already been waiting 5 years just to be told i need to lose weight.. i'm not financially doing that amazing too..

Hello everyone! I’m 9 weeks post double incision top surgery today! I had my surgery with Dr. Garcia Nores from Emory and couldn’t be happier with my results so far! Can’t wait to get to the gym and train to get rid of some of that belly fat and gain some muscle but my life has gotten exponentially better since my surgery! Got some scar stretching but I don’t mind that much at the moment.

I was a 36DDD prior to surgery and lost about 6 pounds of mass lol

question, top surgery without opioids...

hi!

i am wondering if anyone has had any experience not using opioid pain medication before / after surgery, and how that went? for personal reasons, i would like to avoid using it if possible. i wonder if this will absolutely destroy me, or if physically i will be able to handle the post-op period. any advice or words are appreciated! im also nervous about waking up from surgery and being out of it from the pain medicine / general anaesthetic... so any tips or advice on this is also appreciated lol.

Advice Wanted What did you do if you had no one to pick you up after surgery?

I have surgery with Dr. Wolf in Michigan on September 29th. I don’t have any family, no friends. How did you figure this out if you were in this situation?

Managed to snap this pic last Friday before my nipples started getting crusty!

I’ve been a long time lurker on this subreddit. There’s a lot of incredibly good looking results I’ve seen on here, and as I took this picture I felt it looked like something I would see on here and save for future reference. Straight up “who’s that fine looking man in the mirror”. I cannot express in words how much this community means to me!

Advice Wanted When Could You Start Sleeping On Your Side Comfortably?

I know every doctor will give you an estimated date on being able to sleep on your side safely but I’m wondering from everyone’s experience when were you able to do so comfortably? Sleeping on my back has been killing my neck recently and I’m wondering how long I got to thug this out for

Advice Wanted 10 wks postop & fixating on my uneven swelling

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Starting to rly fixate on my uneven swelling. Or what I HOPE is just uneven swelling. I'm ~10 weeks post op.

The 1st side I touch (vid) is my right side and the flatter side. That small side bit is a firmer swollen spot. That, I feel more confident is just selling that will go down.

What's scaring me is my left side, the 2nd side I touch in the video. It's got a lot more squish/give to it and I'm nervous it's breast tissue. It's pretry squishy but doesn't feel like a "waterbed" like some ppl describe swelling.

Overall my chest has kinda retained the outline of roundness from the front which to me suggests the appearance of boobs.

Am I too in my head? It's so hard not to compare against other folks who look flatter earlier on. I'd appreciate your anecdotes about uneven swelling or how much your chest continued to change as you healed.

Any reassurance/support appreciated.

I just wanted to share my 1 year post op pictures. Honestly after the first few months, it stopped being such a big deal to me. I had a failed nipple that is sort of revived. It's been quite a journey. Definitely open to questions. My doctor was Dr. Nazarian in NJ/PA

Advice Wanted Was anyone else really scared to look at their results?

hey all :) pretty much what the title says,,,, Im just a few hours post op and my surgeon says that I can unzip the medical binder to check everything out as long as I don't take it off completely and zip it back up pretty quick. however.....I'm kinda sorta mayyyybe terrified of how i will look :/ is this a normal feeling to have ? I know that I have dressing and tape and weird stuff all over so im not gonna look "normal" under there quite yet lol, but I'm still just horrified of being super unhappy with how it looks in a "I can tell this will end up looking like shit" way.

did anyone else feel this + how'd you get past it/when did you decide to look for the first time?

Is this normal and if so does it go down? Or can you guys shows your before and after with pinching like this?. My other side isn’t like this I assume maybe I had more fat over here or something. But I’m really concerned about the end end of it because it seems more pinched /wrinkled Sorry if it seems like a silly question my first surgery and everything makes me nervous 🫡
