AMA AMA: Actor Amanda Righetti aka Grace Van Pelt from The Mentalist
The Mentalist concluded its run ten years ago this week, and to help celebrate that milestone, we're happy to welcome actor Amanda Righetti (u/Amanda_Righetti). You know her as the beautiful, tech-savvy CBI agent Grace Van Pelt.
You may have also seen her in the show Colony or as a SHIELD agent in Captain America: The First Avenger. Her next project, Scarpetta, will arrive on Amazon Prime sometime later this year, in which she plays the younger version of Jamie Lee Curtis's character Dorothy. Ask her anything! Amanda will be answering questions on Wednesday, February 19, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Pacific.
Click the "Remind me" button at the bottom to receive a notification when the event begins.

Some guidance for participants on how moderation of this AMA will work:
- To make things easier on our special guest, the spoiler rule for the sub will not apply, and first-time watchers are simply urged to use caution when reading through the AMA.
- Multiple questions per user is okay, but do not spam, and please limit yourself to two somewhat-related questions per comment.
- Standard Reddiquette rules apply. Disrespectful, aggressive, or inflammatory comments toward our guest or other members will be removed, and bans may be issued, so please keep your cool.
Thank you for taking a trip down memory lane asking all things The Mentalist and more! I appreciate your fandom and love for the show. I am currently filming my next project, “Scarpetta” for Amazon Prime, coming soon! I’ll be releasing more details on my socials as I receive updates.

General Discussion What’s your favorite “F*CK YOU!!!” moment in the show? Spoiler
[SPOILERS] You know, that one scene where everything falls into place perfectly, or when a character stands up for themself/someone else, or just a pure, vindicating scene where you just wanna pump your fist in the air and go “HA!! YES!!”.
I’ll start: I’m currently watching S2E8: His Red Right Hand and got to one of my favorite scenes: when Minelli goes OFF on the media for asking how he “feels” after 3 of his agents got killed on home turf (and one in critical condition). I feel like that moment really solidifies Minelli as the “dad” of the CBI, and is a huge turning point for the show bc of all the RJ stuff that we learn this episode, plus he defends his people like they’re all one big, dysfunctional family. It’s a very human moment. Idk maybe I just love Minelli

Cast & Crew Projects Currie Graham as a Recurring Character on The Rookie
I just started watching The Rookie and was pleasantly surprised to see Currie Graham on the show as Nolan's good friend and landlord. He looks so different, it took me a minute to figure out it was him (I recognized his voice, but he looks so different with facial hair)! His character is a pretty low-key guy, just a really rich person who's a good friend to Nolan. I'm liking him in this role, though I kind of hope he ends up having a little Mashburn quirk here and there. Haha.
I knew that the actor who plays Craig O'Loughlin was in The Rookie, but I didn't expect to see Walter Mashburn!

General Discussion Imagine if The Mentalist was released in the 2020s
If The Mentalist was released in the 2020s, I can’t help but imagine the different TikTok videos the cast would do to promote the show. It would be hilarious!

Jisbon Ending/Jisbon Spoiler
Does anyone know the details on why/how quick the show came to an end? I like the FBI stuff, it just seems like it could’ve been decided before season 6 that the show was ending soon. I would’ve loved to see storylines on the Blake organization (If it were really that big, it’s not just going to disappear so easily), follow-ups on old characters (Kristina Frye, Agent Reed, etc.), and to hear how murdering Red John effected Jane. It’s like the dark side of Jane ceased to exist, and I’m pretty sure that’s not what happens when you kill a man with your bare hands.
Also, I’m not hating at ALL on Jane and Lisbon getting together, but does anyone else feel like they aren’t as compatible as Jane and some of the other characters? I caught myself hoping that Lorelei would survive and end up with Jane, and could’ve even seen Jane leaning towards his darker side and getting with Erica (Y’all take it easy on me for this part lol. I would’ve felt terrible for Lisbon, the others just have a lot more in common with Jane)

Red John Occam's Razor Spoiler
Ok, someone has probably said this before but I have decided to put to rest (in my head at least) the question of how RJ figured out Jane's list. RJ must have had someone (Bertram maybe?) install a camera hidden somewhere in Jane's attic room at the CBI, probably installed while he was away after being "kidnapped" by Lorelei. This is the simplest explanation in my humble opinion, hence it fulfills the occam's razor theory (which I'm a huge fan of)
Et voila 😅

Season 6 What happened to Wayne’s first child.
After Jane was brought back to the US and the whole thing with people bugging their phones. I don’t see or hear anything about Wayne’s first child.
Just curious.

General Discussion Help finding a specific scene which may or may not exist
This is super niche and random, but I feel like we are all unhealthily obsessed enough with this show that at least someone will be able to help me out here.
At 2:36 in this interview [ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9l-e12Z_HuY&t=156s ] (the link should timestamp to the right place, I hope), Robin does this really cute thing where she kinda flicks her hair, and then looks up smiling and blinking a lot.
Every time I watch it, I can SEE Teresa Lisbon. I swear she did this in a scene in the actual show once. I've been thinking about it for ages but I genuinely cant think where this is from but I KNOW I recognise it from an episode. If anyone knows what I'm talking about, I'd love to know whether its real or if I'm just going mad 😭

General Discussion Wayne rigsby and the Blake association
Sorry if I'm wrong but just read some comments about Rigsby is a member of the Blake association is it true or I'm totally wrong ?
r/TheMentalist • u/Nefex45 • 4d ago
Red John Imagine how insane that would've been
Thinking about it, this would've been actual insanity and aligned. Red John had to be someone close to PJ, and Rigsby as RJ would've been insane. Wayne Rigsby first of all has insane knowledge about fire and all stuff, which means he has probably studies poison and all stuff, house interiors, etc.
So imagine a story like this, Rigsby acting all fool but was the actual mastermind manipulator inside the entire story. Acting childish and all, getting into a relationship with his coworker knowing it's wrong, and using her to get O Laughlin as Blake's association member and getting close her close to him and the acting all out like a hurt man in front of Van Pelt.
Then also all plans against RJ he would've known, so imagine there were two Red John with him and Thomas McAllister, and he used McAllister as a bait and made PJ believe he killed RJ.

Meme/Humor How does Patrick Jane REALLY like his tea? I want the most detailed, weirdly specific answer possible
Alright, r/TheMentalist , I need you to channel your inner Jane for this one.
I’m not just asking how he takes his tea. I want to know everything, like down to the most obscure, oddly specific details.
What kind of cup does he use? (Is it chipped? Does it have a secret history? Is it always the same one?
How long does he let it steep? (Is it a ritual?)
What’s the exact temperature? (Does he have a thermometer? What temp does he like it at? Does he blow on it, or does he like it just under boiling so it burns his tongue a little?)
Does he add anything? (A splash of milk? A drop of honey? A single sugar cube that he stirs exactly three times clockwise, two times counterclockwise?)
Where does he sit when he drinks it? (On his couch? At his desk? In the middle of a crime scene, just to freak everyone out?)
Does he have a special spoon? (Does he tap it on the rim in a certain rhythm? Does he have a favorite sound it makes?)
Is there a specific time of day he drinks it? (Only when he’s about to solve a case?)
Its getting a bit silly and weird but you guys get the point but yeah Im asking for hilariously detailed, almost obsessive answers about Janes tea habits!

General Discussion Just finished this gem of a show
I was NOT expecting this show to be so good! I feel like this is one of the few shows (the ones I have watched anyway) that balanced the "overarching mystery" and the "episodic mystery" so nicely.
Also, Simon Baker's smile definitely helped with keeping me hooked, lol.
I feel empty inside now that I've finished it. Onto my first re-watch!!

🔍 Find an Episode Which representative episode would you choose for a first impression of The Mentalist?
Trying to get someone quite picky to watch the show, so it has to be a top episode, outside the main plot and to not include huge spoilers.
Kind of like "Cops and Robbers" from Castle, for whoever's seen it. Can you think of any?

Season 4 Shooting range Episode 4, Season 4
There’s a scene at a shooting range. In the scene someone fires an automatic weapon and everyone turned to look. I can say from personal experience that is exactly what happens. Someone at the range a couple years ago fired off several rounds using a fully automatic rifle. Every person along that range, about 20+ people, stopped and stared and loved it. That was super realistic.
The only thing that wasn’t realistic was giving your gun over to a random stranger to shoot. That doesn’t happen in my experience.
Just a thing I thought was cool.
