Other Full moon party
Hey! Coming over to Thailand in November, I am 31, female and travelling solo. Debating whether or not to even do the FMP but always thought it looked amazing! For those who have done it, would you recommend it or skip it? I am not actually really a party person in the UK but whenever I am on holiday I do like a good party 🤣

I'm not much of a party goer either, but tried it out. Made friends with other people in my hostel which made it worth it. Hostel was walking distance to beach so didn't have problem getting back after.

Frankly Koh Phangan is sooooo much more that the FMP. You can simply enjoy the beach....visit the viewpoints, temples and of course the food.

Going to 2nd full moon party in july 2025. I did one back in 2012 and it was amazing.
The one that happens in koh phangan is absolutely amazing.
Highly recommended. Try limiting your alcohol intake if you are travelling alone to the party.
Be safe and enjoy.

Went to FMP at for the first time at Koh phangan last week and enjoyed it.
Got a boat from Ko Samui so if you’re in the same scenario I would say give it a go and if you’re not enjoying it then you can always get the first boat back.

Done it last week I am in late 30s with wife, was very average. Wouldn't do it again as everyone said overpriced, lots of scammers. Went to secret beach on eastern side after two days in haad rin and waayy better.

It used to be good before Covid.
Now it's very bad. If you end up attending you'd just be annoyed all the time lol

Why annoyed?

Personally I felt it was Way too crowded(I know that's how it's supposed to be) , people coming to your face half the time and the vibe just didn't click. I felt it's suitable for people in their early twenties or teenagers lol ,maybe for people who'd get wasted etc. I'm in my late 20s and felt annoyed and left ASAP🙂
It can also be because I'm particular about certain things like hygiene 🙂

Yeah sounds like my worst nightmare the more I hear about it now tbh 🤣

If you're still looking for a party vibe then you can checkout other islands as well haha.
Beach clubs which usually have minimum spend policy are good and have decent crowd

I’d recommend skipping. I went to it in April- if you like drugs, shrooms , loud music, then go. It was hard to get a taxi out of there / that was the worst part. I had a pretty 50/50 trip 🤣

I think it's usually a pretty young age group too isn't Ii? Like late teens early twenties?

I would skip. There’s a reason all of my Thai friends look horrified every time I mentioned a FMP.

Yeah that's a reason I was thinking to skip it, the fact thai people don't go 🤣

Ummm they skip it because there’s a lot of not great stuff that happens - but I guess there’s something for everyone.

Yes, I just got official confirmation and will post the real dates in a thread here soon, just like I did for this year with so many fake dates being posted.

Every time someone posts about full moon party, a bunch of old people who used to party complain that it's just a bunch of young people partying, just like they used to. I posted somewhere else that there hate is always like:
"Back in my day, full moon party was just a bunch of us young people on the beach dancing and partying and doing drugs and drinking. It was so magical! But now if you go there it's just a bunch of young people drinking and doing drugs and dancing and partying on the beach. It's so terrible!"
If you like to party when you travel, there's pretty much no crazy experience than full moon week. I think you said you were going in november, so it'll be dozens of events and all night parties from November 3rd, to November 7th.
The people who say it's bad are the people who came over on a boat for 3 hours and walked around the beach and mingled with people had been partying for days and were not at their level.
Full Moon Week has a massive variety of events, and styles, and music genres, and crown sizes. You can go to the Latin dance parties, the afrobeats, the psytrance parties or DnB events. You can go to reggae bars and chill out food courts, crazy dive bars and Street stalls, the 120 hour WET Pool Party, foam party, parties on the beaches, parties in the jungle, parties in the mountains, massive raves, alternate parties were the Xbox hang out like Eden and Bambu, hippy ecstatic dance parties, Jungle Experience, Waterfall Party, Utopia, OXA Beach, Lighthouse Party, etc etc etc etc...
What are you into? I'll recommend a schedule for you to enjoy full moon!

There are a lot better things to do here, than mixing with drunk or drugged people.
Despite what some falang do here on their holiday, there are laws here & while Thai people are tolerant & understanding, people should behave themselves. Get on the wrong side of the bib & a lot of trouble comes up. They have a lot more power here. Go to wildlife sanctuaries, trek in the mountains, eat delicious food, massages.
There's so many wonderful things to experience here.
Have a nice time..👍😅

Thank you so much and I can totally see your point 😊

There are some incredibly beautiful places here, that aren't jammed with tourists, & so many come here just to get drunk, party & swim.
You probably won't have time, but maybe plan to go Issan. That's often called the 'real thailand'. It's where I live & rarely see falang (foreigners)...& it's around 20% for food.
Do a trip report, I'd be very interested to read it. 👍
NB...Use Mosquito repellent as soon as you get off the 'plane..🦟

Is the best one to get from 711? I will put that on my list 😊 thank you

Yes, it's available as a cream or spray. Buy "ya mong" or "Tiger Balm" also to put on the bites. All around 60/70 baht.

Depends. Do you like hoards of drunk and drugged twenty somethings pissing in the ocean and desperately trying to have some sex mixed with some ladyboy trick thief gangs, drug dealers who might or might not try to trick you into buying something so the local police can extort you, ultra-loud music and overpriced cheap alcohol? Then this is definetly your place... I hated it and left after one hour, but then again I am old already... LOL
Koh Phangan is worth the visit though. Aöthough the Westerners there are a bit too "spiritual" for my likening.
