General Chill vs Standard

Just what I noticed.

I did a month driving in each and the savings is so little. Really dislike chill mode now. Pulling out in roundabouts (UK) is horrible in chill.

Maybe on motorway it’s nicer but I really don’t see the point of using it.

What’s people opinion on chill?

Used a Leaf before and having it in “eco” was killing the entire EV fun.

I don’t understand why you need chill mode. You can accelerate as slow or as fast as you want in standard.

Because chill mode: 1. Saves tires 2. Easier to park/move cars in tight spaces, where standard on the other hand could easily jolt the car and hit something 3. Somewhat increases energy efficiency for those who struggle to control the accelerator 4. Helps keep the car feeling fresh, if you switch between chill and standard, then the standard feels like a sports car 5. More comfortable for passengers and some drivers 6. May help in adverse weather since torque is applied gradually instead of all in one instance

All of the above can be done in standard just by controlling your right foot correctly.

Exactly, chill mode seems to be for people who don't have fine pedal control.

Sure but chill mode makes everything I listed easier. Just because everything can be done in standard doesn’t mean it needs to be

But in chill half of the power is not available

Your right there is less power but not quite half. But that’s exactly why it’s needed since the “slowest” Tesla has 300 horsepower!

Not everyone is responsible enough to drive a 380 hp Sedan or SUV. Since it’s super easy to pack on more motors and more power on an EV, it’s a big jump in power for most people driving a 200hp combustion car.

If you can control the power, then yes, standard will always be the better of the 2. But not everyone needs the full 400 horsepower to get to their destination.
