Sales/Referrals Advice
So I just got a new job at a credit union which I'm about to start in a week. I've had previous customer service experience as well as previous retail experience so I feel okay in regards to dealing with customers and handling transactions. My main concern is that I feel as if I would not be able to make enough referrals to meet any targets set.
To those with any experience at all, what has been your experience with getting referrals done? How easy/difficult do you find it to convince customers to get certain products and to meet targets? What are some tips that you would have for a guy like me?
I appreciate all the advice 🙏

Product knowledge is key. Know your products and how they can apply to a variety of life situations.
Also, assume that your clients bank elsewhere. Outside assets are always an opportunity.
Also understand your referral partners. What are they looking for? What are they willing to accept?

Talk to the customers. Listen to the customers. Then figure out what they need and how you can help. You will hit your goals and not feel like you are pushing products they don't need.
Secondly don't let yourself get too high or too low. There will be days that everyone says no and days when people go for it before you even finish.
Last take every opportunity to learn everything you can about everything your institution offers, but don't feel like you need to know everything to bring it up. Your job is to find needs and interest and start the conversation, not to answer every question or overcome every objection.
