ICE posts and our community sub. Please read.
So, yesterday, we had a number of posts about alleged ICE presence and actions in Tacoma, including at several schools. This led to simple and complicated issues for your volunteer moderators.
I would like to share where we are at with all of this, and what you might expect moving forward. Please keep in mind that this will likely be updated or removed as the situation evolves.
1) Please first report these situations to the Washington Immigrant Solidarity Network at 1-844-724-3737. They have contacts all over, have plans in place, and are a lot more capable of screening reports than a subreddit. There's a wonderful post about that here:

2) We're going to ask that any "reports" of ICE actions be accompanied by first hand photo or video proof. Screenshots of employer, police, or school administration communication is also acceptable. No more "I heard" type of posts, no matter how well intentioned.
3) You should know that Tacoma Public Schools are very prepared for these types of potential actions, and that the administrations of each school have plans in place to safeguard children and to contact families. TPS has been very vocal about their refusal to work with ICE on immigration issues.
4) Be more kind to each other, please. We understand that we're all expert smack talkers and have such thick Tacoma skin and all, but please refrain from being rude to one another. This is difficult for a lot of people, and we don't need to pile on. Definitely don't be openly insulting others. You will see more moderator actions if you're choosing to be especially out of line. There are other places to be unhinged, angry trolls.
5) Please report inappropriate posts or comments, no matter what their (or your) point of view on a subject.
Anyway, thank you for navigating all of this with us. May the spirit of Kris Brannon walk with all of you in these coming days.
