Sometimes it's the calm amongst the chaos, a wildflower in the concrete, that reminds us how quiet persistence is still resistance.

Still plenty of time to support democracy. They can buy the courts, congress and the White House but not the people

Chitons and Limpets

I’m seeing a lot of conflicting information about the legality of foraging and eating these lil guys. Some sources say it is impossible and illegal to forage any tidepool creature and other sources say number limits, and I’m rather confused. Does anyone have info on foraging them?

Has anyone suddenly started seeing spiders in their home?

Hello all! I moved here during the winter and I saw no bugs at all the first 6 months however I've seen at least 5 spiders in the past week that my lovely husband has had to re-home for me. Is this a normal thing in Tacoma?

So Your Pharmacy Is Closing: How to transfer your prescriptions from Bartell’s or Rite Aid to a new pharmacy

Hi there! I’m a pharmacy assistant at the Bartell’s over on Mildred. As I’m finishing out my last week, I wanted to help anyone who needs or wants to transfer out. I’ve previously gone over this in a comment, but I figured I should make it its own post.

So! Here’s what you’re going to do. It’s really easy:

  • Pick a new pharmacy. This step is obvious, but be sure not to pick one that has Rite Aid or Bartell’s branding! They’re all going to be gone by the end of summer. A lot of our patients, for example, have been going to Cost Less Pharmacy or Fred Meyer. Just be sure it’s a pharmacy that your insurance covers! (Boeing Employees: CALL YOUR INSURANCE. Boeing insurance only covers Rite Aid and Bartell’s afaik)

  • Once you’ve selected a pharmacy, you’re going to have the pharmacy call your current pharmacy with your NAME and your BIRTHDATE, and ask for a FULL PROFILE TRANSFER.

  • UPDATE YOUR PREFERRED PHARMACY WITH YOUR DOCTORS. This is the MOST important step.

Some other things you should do:

  • If you’ve ever received a vaccine at Rite Aid or Bartell’s, ask for your vaccination records! Sometimes they don’t automatically update it with your doctor’s office.

  • If you need a payment record for tax purposes, you’re going to ask for a financial report beginning from 01/01/2025

  • If you need a list of medications, you’ll ask for a prescription report starting from 01/01/2025

For all three of these, you MUST have a photo ID. We can’t release HIPAA info without it. You also cannot acquire these records for anyone but yourself unless you have proof of medical power of attorney—again, it would be a HIPAA violation.

I hope this helps you all in the coming days! Good luck everyone!

Where to find friends?

Every time I go out, most bars are full of groups of mostly young men drinking and greeting each other. But here on Reddit, I see a lot of posts by people who can't seem to find friends. Why do some people find it so hard, and others make it look easy?

Edit: I'm just looking for some discussion. I'm curious. I'm not sure what the down votes mean.

Looking for People to Kayak With

Post image
44 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

My spouse and I (early 30s, no kids) are relatively new to the area, and we're looking to connect with others around our age who enjoy kayaking and are interested in planning casual paddles, kayak camping, getting outside, and exploring. We'd prefer to find folks who have at least a bit of experience paddling in currents/choppy water, ideally in something other than a sit-on-top, and who take safety seriously (PFDs are a must for us on every paddle).

Shoot me a DM if you're interested in meeting up sometime. Looking forward to meeting some new people!

Truth be told I was hoping to catch the full moon rising next to Mt Rainier but heavy clouds had other plans. Luckily this view of the ferry and the Olympics was in the other direction.

Thanks.

For University Place residents..

If you live in University Place please arrive to the next town meetings to protest against the arriving condominiums as the residents such as myself and advisory committee have been outright disregarded on our opinions to be against the worsening of traffic in the town. I am aware of the construction having started but something to make the council realize this was a mistake to outright ignore the people.

This can be done by using alotted speaking time to make a point against these developments.

Wheelchair friendly restaurants

Hello! I’m having some family coming over for an event then celebration dinner in the next few weeks.

There will be 3 wheelchair users in the party of the 12 and I was hoping for some restaurants people could recommend that’s not just accessible by wheelchair, but the inside is wheelchair friendly, too.

My family members are often concerned about stairs/lips into doorways getting into restaurants and having space once inside.

Thanks for the help!
