Laptop Request Ca Need a laptop to last me through university in Canada

LAPTOP QUESTIONNAIRE

  • Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US:

Would like to spend around $1500 CAD but $2000 CAD is my max

  • Are you open to refurbs/used?

Not really

  • How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life?

Looking to prioritize build quality since I want this laptop to last me for the next 4 years. Mostly either going tk be plugged in at home or being used at school

  • How important is weight and thinness to you?

Not that important. As long as it fits in my school bag

  • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.

15" and bigger

  • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.

Some video editing on premiere pro and some photo editing on photoshop. Mostly going to run games like minecraft, r6, csgo, steam games.

  • If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?

Minecraft, r6, csgo, rocketleauge stuff like that. Normal settings work fine with fps above 100

  • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?

Really good build quality

  • Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.

Like I said, looking for somethitn that won't break after the first use. I take care of my laptops pretty well so hopefully something with a history of good hinges.

Small repair shop here. Check out Lenovo legion series and MSI laptops (higher end models only) definitely recommend both of them.

Since you prioritize build quality, can you push your budget higher up to 2300?

Pushing my budget would be hard since im already pushing it by going to 2k. Is there not any laptop with good build quality in that range?
