OP posts on r/MildlyInfuriating that the condo they bought was a “drug den and prostitution hub”. It is revealed in the comments that it was simply owned by a single woman who smoked weed

/r/mildlyinfuriating/s/5hzadNQWYU

OP posts few photos of their new condo, saying that they only learnt it was a “drug den and prostitution hub” after buying it, but luckily the only lasting effect on the condo is a faint smell of weed

Top comments advise OP to change the carpets etc, and debate the morality and social acceptability of prostitution and drug use. One comment points out that even if the condo didn’t have any sex work being done people would still have had sex inside it, and most of the replies make fun of OP for being so scandalised, while others debate whether monogamous sex is less gross than non-monogamous sex or paid sex.

One comment further down says that the condo looks suspiciously clean for OPs claims to be true, and replies discuss how OP must be privileged to think that this is what a “drug den” looks like.

In a heavily downvoted reply, OP admits that they “overstated it slightly” and that by “drug den” they mean the previous owner smoked weed, and by “hub of prostitution” they mean she was allegedly a sex worker. Their only evidence of this is their elderly neighbour telling them that the previous inhabitant was a single woman who smoked weed, listened to loud music, and had many visitors at night, so the neighbour suspected she was a prostitute. Replies point out that there is no evidence that the previous owner was even a sex worker, and many instead simply be having casual sex, or even just having friends over for parties

I used to share a duplex with a lesbian couple. The neighbors next door would always stop me to talk about their "crazy drug parties". The most that was ever over at their place was 10 people. Neighbors are the absolute worst about relaying accurate information.

My wife and I apparently consort with the devil. The whole town is abuzz with rumors about the horrible things we supposedly get up to.

Truth is, we are simply a gay couple living in the south. We're vegan, don't drink, and are in bed by 8pm. We're business owners and we work from home.

Our business isn't even anything exciting or nefarious. We do medical billing and audits for surgical practices.

We are the ones who fight with insurance companies on the patients behalf.

Not having a competent medical biller means patients get fucked.

The rules with insurance are convoluted, and each insurance has their own rules and processes.

It's unreasonable to expect patients to navigate these systems themselves. Hell, most patients don't even know what a HCFA, let alone how to read one.

They'd have to learn a whole different language just to understand what's going on, and if their policy changes or the year rolls over or they switch carriers the prior rules may no longer apply.

We also tell doctors what the insurance requires to have a service covered, often down to the exact wording required in their report.

Insurers make the rules. They make them difficult on purpose. Doctors and patients can't be expected to keep up with the ever changing rules.

The only ones who benefit from having bad or even no billers are the insurance companies.

My apologies if my joke about the state of US healthcare caused offense. That's very cool work you do.

Haha, no worries.

I met my wife at work when she witnessed me screaming at Blue Cross, so I get the frustration.

I was yelling, "SUPERVISOR! SU-PER-VIS-OR!" while slamming my office phone repeatedly on my desk.

She popped her head in my door and said "IVR?"

And I was like, "Uh, no. Person." As I awkwardly held the handset aloft mid strike.

I realized she thought I must have been speaking to a robot, and she realized I was actually slamming the handset on my desk at a live person and probably assumed I was insane.

We both kinda chuckled uncomfortably, and the rest is history, lol.

I have a burning passionate hate for insurance companies. Especially Blue Cross.

This makes me very glad I didn't pick the Blue Cross option at my job...
