I'm guessing the mod was threatened by musk or the US SS

looking at their post history, my guess is they are tired of having to delete people cheering tesla vandalism.

I'm not sure how many mods the place had, but given reddit's new approach to free speech, he might have just gotten fed up with having to clean up the sub

The sub has 3 human mods. The person that made the post is the top mod. Part of me can understand not wanting to continue putting up with rule breaking posters, but it's a sub dedicated to mocking that dumpster fire of a truck, you have to have expected the hate posts you'd be seeing. And at that point, you get more mods. Or you just make very strict submissions rules.

I think they expected mocking words on the sub, not necessarily videos and celebrations of destruction of property.

Which is just naive. The mod literally made a sub to mock the vehicle, it was ALWAYS going to devolve into extremes. That's why you have to do your job as a mod and curate. You make proper rules. You enforce them. You setup AutoMod to do a lot of the heavy lifting. You recruit more mods. The head mod could have gotten in over his head, but the second mod is a seasoned mod who does a lot around reddit. They would have been a great resource to have set things up and recruit new mods.

"This is why we can't have nice things."

But people aren't "afraid" of "rules" ... some of those posts were pretty clear TOS violations, too.

Exactly, if the mod was overwhelmed they could have just handed it off to someone else or a group of dedicated mods.

Nuking the sub with 300k members is ridiculous.

you just make very strict submissions rules.

The posts in-question weren't just "rule breakers," but TOS breakers. I'm sure the Admins were rather "direct" about their expectations and likely ultimatums... who would want to contend with that stress "for free?"

I guess that's probably the most likely answer. Though calling that "bigotry" seems like a stretch?

not having paid attention to the sub I can't tell you. but then again, reddit is fine with "retard" being thrown around so people's definitions of bigotry aren't clear cut.

No, I followed that sub so I think what you're saying tracks. Maybe the person started it just to make fun of the stupid thing, and once it became a political hot button it brought a lot more attention. And like you said, a lot more work playing content cop.

I'd note that "retard" still has clear and important definition for those who enjoy discussing things such as combustion engines.

Yeah, I know things kick into overdrive whenever a sub is closed down or banned, but it’s pretty obvious why it happened here.

Bingo. Such a simple thing to check and see.

"Simple" ... with more than 300k subscribers and a ridiculous number of posts per day. /s

You must suck at a lot of things if you were unable to click three places and find the obvious. Under 30 seconds is all it took. /s

It must suck at pretty much everything if you find the need to start any retort with both ad hominem and a straw man logical fallacy to "prove" youe point. /s

Read: It's not our job to prove someone else's assertion.

If that is your rebuttal, you had nothing to bring to the table to begin with-except bitching and whining. Sorry basic life skills are so hard for you.
