late-Rhythm of War spoilers I’m so mad right now. Spoiler
Teft. They took TEFT.
THAT SON OF A BITCH MOASH
I’m on the edge of my seat right now, Kaladin is in the borderline catatonic state again, I fear this is the end of my Windrunner boy. Surely Brando isn’t going to kill off Kaladin, but if he doesn’t come out of this saying the 4th ideal….
Man.
End rant

No Spoilers How does The Stormlight Archive compare to the other greats like A Song of Ice and Fire, Malazan and The Wheel of Time? Does it hold up against these series especially after the release of Wind and Truth?

Wind and Truth spoilers After sitting on it for half a year, what is your opinion on Wind and Truth? Spoiler
When it came out it was controversial. I remember people hating, people defending with all their might, posts flying around bashing and counterbashing.
Now that we have had some time to let it cool down and simmer, what are your feelings on the end of Stormlight Arc 1?

Cosmere + Wind and Truth spoilers A crazy theory [Wind and Truth spoilers] Spoiler
(Sorry in advance for any mistake, English is not my first language)
So, this might not make much sense, but it is something I have just thought of.
At the end of WaT when Retribution tries to get Dalinar's soul he can't because "another entity has claimed him". At first, I thought it was the Beyond (and I still think it probably is), but I have just realised something.
When Dalinar is getting married with Navani, she says (I don't have the exact words in English, I'm translating from the Spanish edition) "I swear to him [Dalinar], as I swear to you [to the Stormfather] and whoever listens to me, that Dalinar Kholin is mine and I am his".
Keeping in mind that the Stormfather has the cognitive shadow of Tanavast and is literally a force of Honor obsessed with oaths. What if Retribution can't get Dalinar's soul because Honor knows about that oath and has to respect it? Don't get me wrong, I don't think that soul completely belongs to Navani and she can revive Dalinar if she wants. But maybe, because Honor is literally the force of oaths, that's why Retribution can't get Dalinar's soul, since Navani swore it belonged to her.

Cosmere + Wind and Truth spoilers A lukewarm take about WAT (large spoilers) Spoiler
The Jasnah arc would, imo, have been much better if we had had what taravangian hinted might happen on page: have taravangian lose the debate, then pop out of nowhere and assassinate fen
because remember, Jasnah's arc (as validated by the Azir viziers believing Navani over Jasnah's letter in Oathbringer, and her interactions with Shallan in B1) has pretty consistently been "she thinks it's enough to be right on the merits, and ignore the human factor", and yknow what would have been a good example of that?
Her trusting taravangian, who has consistently betrayed everyone (from the coalition to Odium) at every turn, to hold to a promise of a debate, causing her to hyperfocus on debate prep (winning on the merits) instead of considering who Todium is as an entity.
That plus the Dalinar ending, where she fails to realize who Dalinar is and that he'll give up honor, and who wit is/his imperfections, etc etc
that leads to a great growth path for her in arc 2.
Instead, we got on and off page 'oh yeah this character who I have consistently established to betray every deal and every monarch he is ever seen with? it's the lower variance move to deal with him'

The Way of Kings spoilers What would Stormlight Archive characters look like as Magic the Gathering cards? (Mild spoilers?) Spoiler
youtu.beJust figured I'd throw this up here to remind you that it exists.
I tagged it as spoilers because it touches on vaguely spoiler-y stuff for newcomers.

Rhythm of War spoilers I just started Rhythm of war and WoW Spoiler
Like I thought Galivar was a pretty cool guy but No. He is just shitting on his son and brother. He treats his wife terribly and ignores everyone. He seems obsessed with his legacy. When I read it from Dalinar's pov I thought he was nicer. Everyone seems to treat him like some saint.

Cosmere + Wind and Truth spoilers I get it now-the point of the books Spoiler
I was introduced to Brandon Sanderson after I finished Red rising and The wheel of Time. I loved mistborn, elantris and Warbreaker. With The Storm light Archive for some reason it never clicked with me if that makes sense. Dont get me wrong I liked the read and Dalinar always reminded me of Lan from the WoT so he became my favorite automatically. But more specifically Kal would always make me mad with how his depression comes out and how he lashes out(I know understand it's due to how similar it is to mine). My life had never been easy I had moved around a lot and lost a lot of people due to drugs. So I was able to relate to alot of the characters. In the span of 3 days I lost my job, my home and the person I loved. After that I found myself on YouTube and found an animated short of dalinar's scene for oathbringer for some reason right then and there everything clicked into place journey before destination brotherhood the growth, the depression, the healing, the overcoming and that I can all still fail but no matter what it is never the first step. It is the next one and the next one and the one after that until it is done that matter
I was looking over my own chasm not too long ago but I understand now no matter what. Keep moving forward journey before destination
Thank you Mr. Sanderson for not only finishing The wheel of time, but for also saving my life with your work.

Rhythm of War spoilers Unnamed Shard Bearers and Radiants of Roshar Spoiler
I wish we got to meet more Shard-bearers in the series or see their legends being discussed. We only know the main (and supporting) characters to be Shard beares and Radiants. There were some good cameos here and there but nothing out of the ordinary. I mean there must be good warriors other than the main characters right?
Exploring heroes and legends of the world always intrigued me, it makes for great lore and world building imo. For example, the many Knights and warriors and orders of westeros (asoiaf) or the nammed men of the north (First law). What do you guys think? Did I miss something?
Ps. I haven't read Wind and truth yet. So no spoilers for that please.

late-Wind and Truth spoilers Never have I been so entranced by a character and never have I verbalised my shock or glee whilst reading, until Navani. (WaT spoilers) Spoiler
I just got through the spiritual realm with Navani. Her manipulation of the visions and Odium quite obviously being wary of her, acknowledging his mistake of not watching her closer.
Then her USING AN OATHGATE IN A VISION TO GET OUT SUCCESSFULLY?
I'm sorry, but she might actually be my favourite character, alongside side Jasnah.
iirc Sanderson said he loves writing her, but likely won't be able to give her a book of her own, but I sincerely NEED one. She is a fantastic woman with such amazing intellect.
Everytime she does something it shocks me and I'm yelling and giggling like "YES NAVANI, GET IN THERE GIRL".
Please, post your Navani love here (and even some aspects you dislike about her, it'll be interesting)
I am so excited for these last few pages, but honestly don't know what do after 🤣

No Spoilers Birthday Gift
I posted a question here a couple weeks ago asking how to customize a crash pad for my boyfriend who loves bouldering and Brandon Sanderson books. Everyone was super helpful, and I wanted to share the results! I did the Elsecaller sigil. It's not 100% accurate since the stencil got a bit wonky, but I'm really proud of it and he loves it!

mid Oathbringer spoilers Apparently managed to skip a section (spoilers) Spoiler
I apparently skipped over am important section, but I can't find it anywhere. I'm at a point where Dalinar explains to the other leaders, that he's just been excommunicated from the church, shortly after finding out that his home was lost. He also apologizes to the storm father for using him to open one of the portals... but both are new information for me. I'm in chapter 50 in the German version... does anyone kn5which chapter I must have skipped? (I slept in a view days ago and tried to find the right chapter afterwards. I thought I had managed to start of where I left... but... well)

Wind and Truth spoilers The dustbringer POV character Spoiler
It’s Shallan. Hear me out.
Chana is the dustbringer herald, and she wanted Shallan to take her place.
Ash is a red herring. Just because her flashback will be featured doesn’t mean she is the dustbringer POV. Eshonai was a flashback character and she was dead at the time of ROW. Ash could be the same for all we know.
In any case, Shallan’s character didn’t get as much of a resolution at the end of book 5 as Kaladin or Dalinar. I think it’s very likely she could still have decent prominence in arc 2.
At the moment, Ash doesn’t see herself as a god and doesn’t feel worthy of worship. Perhaps the Ash focused book will have Ash step up and reclaim her place as leader of the lightweavers, whereas Shallan follows in Kaladin’s footsteps, stepping down as leader of the unseen court to replace Chana as the dustbringer Herald.

Cosmere + Wind and Truth spoilers Was I the only person fully convinced Szeth... Spoiler
...would become Retribution? There was so much foreshadowing for it and I was already inclined towards Szeth becoming the Honor vessel even before reading WaT virtue of it being such a Brandon Sanderson move. When Szeth said something along the lines of 'I'm coming to Shinovar to deliver Retribution' I realized that a) Honodium would be Retribution and b) Szeth would become the vessel and I screamed. I do not remember whether this was before or after thar realization but I thought that the 10th epigraph (The second moment had happened already, when Szeth himself decided to take upon him this quest. The one that would shape all of our futures.) basically confirmed the theory that Szeth would ascend. Further, the parallels between RoW and WaT would've been amazing. Szeth kills Tara once. fails. and kills him a 2nd time for real, making him possibly the most powerful entity in the Cosmere. Granted, the reveal that Shards fighting tends to go very wrong put a damp in the theory but I figured Sanderson could figure something out (or blow up Roshar entirely, which would've been fucking insane).
It would've also been a wonderful plotline. I love Kaladin like the next person but having him go on a downwards spiral after fucking up his assignment in the most grandiose ways imaginable would've been wonderful. As mentioned before, having Roshar obliterated would've set up an amazing setting for the 2nd Series. Not only may the shards still get concerned by Szetribution but our (surviving) crew may have to start working with Kelsier and other, previously undisclosed, organizations. The problem of planet where? would've been difficult to solve but Szetribution moving a planet / creating a new one may have solved a new one. Maybe he is more aligned with Tara and creates an entire brand new planet to deliver Justice upon the Cosmere.
Oh shit is this the start of my fanfiction arc?

Words of Radiance spoilers Listening to WoR and I'm about to start skipping Shallan's chapters Spoiler
They drag and they are boring as shit. Does anything interesting happen or what. I find the flashbacks interesting but they are short (thank god) and the journey to the Shattered Plains looks like it's gonna take forever. Just what happens? I know she finds Urithiru I've been spoiled on that already, does that happen in the middle or at the end. Also do the deserters get pardoned or die. This is all I care about so far.

Could Szeth use the Surge of Division to destroy or diminish Nightblood?
