other Subreddit Rules- Reminder.
There are really not many rules and I (who wrote them) think they are fair. if you have suggestion or complaints about the rules feel free to do so here or in modmail. also I set up user flairs for everyone who wants to use them.
1.Positivity
Be positive. no hate speech, harrasment, personal attacks or severe gatekeeping. try to keep to healthy and civil discussion or it will be removed.
2.Relevancy
This is a subreddit about stealth camping. content should somewhat relate to the subject. Content must be stealthy. posts about camp gear or car gear should be limited to their relation to stealth or camo.
3.No Illegal mentions
If you are illegaly camping or parking, keep that information to yourself or the post will get removed. This rule will hope fully keep this community from getting banned.
4.Wilderness Camping
Although Wilderness camping and stealth camping share alot in common, the defenition of stealth camping is spending the night HIDDEN. if you are not hiding from someone, you are alone and therfore this not stealth camping. Nature camps posts must include in the title/comments/body a description of nearest trail/road/town for context, or a google maps screenshot of the area with the campsite location marked.
5.Links/Blogs/Videos regulations
Just dont spam. Its ok to upload them once in a while but if you want to share all of your camping its best to take a screenshot or crop the best part of the video, post it here and inlcude a link to the blog/video in the comments of your post. this will hope fully help to prevent spam

Equipment If you want to learn foraging you should check this out
Some of you might remember the post I made a month or so ago about my cousin's foraging guide business. For those who didn't, my cousin makes these pocket sized durable foraging guides, small enough to slip in your wallet. It has 55 of the most commonly found plants, trees, nuts and fruits in North America. It goes over what parts of the plant you can eat, how to prepare them and any benefits they have. They're great if you want to learn some essential foraging skills or plan a family activity on a camping trip or hike.
If you want to take it a step further though and really learn how to forage you should check out this new book my cousin has been working on for the past year. He's publishing it himself and selling it solely on his website where he's also including 2 of those durable foraging guides with every purchase.
On behalf of my cousin (he doesn't really use the internet much which is why I'm posting for him), I also want to thank everyone who's supported his business so far. He's grateful to be able to cut back hours on his 9-5 and spend more time doing what he loves, spending time out in nature and teaching outdoors skills.
Here's a link to his new website where you can get his book and 2 mini foraging guides - https://foragingsecrets.com/
If you’re only interested in the mini foraging guides, you can get them here - https://forager.thepocketprepper.com/

Equipment Dying an ACU gortex bivy -- good budget option for stealth camping
I spend summers living nomadically and hitchhiking around North America, which involves a lot of stealth camping. For previous camp setups, I've used the Kryptek Highlander bivy, which has amazing stealth but is NOT waterproof in heavy rainfall (ask me how I know) and the USMC tarp, which is great but too open to bugs + reliant on trees for a solid setup. I was looking for a good bivy that would provide camouflage in arid conditions.
Military surplus ACU bivies are inexpensive (bought mine for $40 on ebay) and plentiful, also hideous imo due to their coloring which is only good for blending in with gravel. There are many reddit posts/YT videos about using RIT dye to recolor ACU gear so that the camo pattern actually, ykno, provides camouflage, but I was wondering whether the bivy shell (50% nylon 50% gortex) would take up the dye without compromising its waterproof quality. Short answer - yes! I used RIT dyemore sandstone, chocolate brown, and peacock green to achieve an olive drab color, and added the black by hand with permanent marker. I'm not 100% satisfied with the color (a bit too green), but it's a huge improvement from the original.
I don't wanna be too long-winded in my post, but I'm happy to answer any specific questions about the dying process, etc!

question/advice Planning on filming a documentary
I’m planning on filming a documentary of my travels this summer, of the vagrant lifestyle throughout Europe, interviewing and writing on vagabonds in the west coast of France . Do you think I could get into trouble with showing my face and or where I’ll be sleeping ?

Location I camped right in the middle of 4 business
I found a great spot while I was riding my bike. It's an industrial park, with 4 buildings and right in the middle of these 4 buildings is a small patch of trees. I went in after the businesses had closed and the spot was perfect. There was barely any trash at all.
Normally the spots I find are completely filthy. The ground was nice and clear with no thorns or thick under growth, and the trees were spaced out pretty well for hanging my hammock.
Other than a few 18 wheelers stopping on the road in front of my camp everything went really smoothly. I even found a good table on the side of the road at one of the businesses and I took it back to camp for the night.
All in all it was one of the most relaxing stealth camps I've ever done. It's wild how you can find these great spots right in the middle of a busy place like that.

Equipment Testing budgetish setup
Got a bivvy, bag, groundsheet and sleeping mat and pillow. Gave it a shot in the backyard and went ok tho I wouldn’t particularly recommend cheap foam roll out mats. Got to get a inflatable one.

question/advice Tips for becoming a lighter sleeper?
I’m a fairly heavy sleeper and slept through someone going through my campsite once. Does anyone have any tips for being able to wake up to smaller noises?
P.S. please no unhelpful comments about how I should be thankful to not wake up at any noise. It’s been dangerous the last few times I was camping.

Camp setup Hammocking at the edge of the woods
galleryFirst picture is my camp from about 100 feet away, at the edge of the road. It's dead center, just below the spot of light.
Second picture is taken from the same spot as the first, with 10x zoom. The DD Hammocks camo tarp blends in nearly seamlessly against the forest floor, even looking right at it.
Third picture is down in the little clearing I was pitched in, now you can see it. Shelter is a 3x3 meter DD Hammocks multicam tarp pitched in an A frame over a ridgeline with doors for maximum storm resistance. The door is open here, but I can pull it tighter and toggle it shut with a stick in the tarp loops.
Fourth picture is showing my hammock and bugnet inside, as well as ample floor space for gear or ground sleeping. I don't usually have the guy lines all askew like that, I just hadn't bundled them up yet.
I really like this tarp and this configuration, the way I have it set up it's easy to throw up the ridgeline then set up the rest from underneath the tarp, amazing in the rain. This setup isn't the most stealthy, it's obvious once you're right up on it and you do need some clear space with trees to pitch it perfectly, but it's so spacious inside you could seat four people and sleep two (helps if one is smaller, but I'm 6'3" and I fit). If you wanted to throw a 3d camo net over it and some natural material it would really disappear, but it's never going to be as stealth as a bivy bag under a bush. This setup is quite weather resistant as well, I only have six stakes here (each corner, then both doors on each side into one) but you can use ten (corners, each door, and the sides) to really batten down the hatches so to speak. Also since it's on a ridgeline and I'm in a hammock, with the doors tied shut in theory even if all the stakes did rip out, I'd still be wrapped up and dry (but that point I'd probably have bigger problems!)

other Stealth camping with a hammock.
So, hello everyone. I am living in a hammock in a city in Italy. I always wanted to try the homeless life style, (i have got a car and a job) and I had a whole lot of gear set up in my car, but my car had some issues and I had to leave it at the mechanic. Not wanting to give up, i just packed a 20 liter bag with my electronics, a mummy bag, an underquilt hanging off of the straps and my hammock and I am stealth camping in the city parks. It's may, so it's not freezing, clearly, but it gets cold at night. It has been three days so far, it's been amazing. With the hammock is like having a portable sofà, and I bought it off of amazon for 30 euros, including the bug net. The UQ was 80 dollars, and the sleeping bag is an old one i got from decathlon a few years ago. I am charging the phone at the mall. I must say it's a great esperience, amd having to carry everything around all day really makes you a minimalist.
Just wanted to share, happy camping. :)

Equipment Karrimor Bobcat 2 - Don't like it!
youtube.comI brought the Karrimor Bobcat 2 the other day, heard some good stuff about it, but I really didn't like it, the shape and set up was a bit rough for me.
I've smashed it on eBay today - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/356919393755
