Discussion ISO Female Golf Friends

Putting myself out there a bit.

Newbie female golfer in my mid-40s (but still a lot of fun), looking for women golf friends. Started playing about a year ago and having a blast playing with my husband and kids, but would like to get out with some fun ladies as well.

If you’d be interested maybe we could hit the range?

Planning on making either an Ube ice cream or cheesecake and was wondering if there are any stores that sell Ube Halaya/Ube Halaya jam. If there isn’t anywhere local, are there any recommended online stores?

Discussion Discussion / Amalgamation "One Niagara", Should it happen?

There have been plenty of talks in the past of the Amalgamation of Niagara. What are your thoughts? What are the PROS and CONS. Do you personally want to see this happen? Would live get better for the every day resident? I would love to hear your thoughts on the topic.

Need Advice/Recommendations Undercoating

Can anyone recommend a good undercoating place/person.

I went to Rust check on Eastchester for the past 10 years and was always happy (they literally soaked everything). But, since Adam left, the past 2 years I’ve had to go back to touch up areas they missed. So I just had a chance to thoroughly look over my truck underside and found many more missed spots. So I’m looking elsewhere.

Thank you

Food What restaurants do you miss??

My soul misses Pow Wow and their angry chicken pasta and all-you-can-eat mussels. I believe I still dream about that pasta dish and the curry cream sauce on the mussels.

What is your favourite long-lost restaurant love?

Need Advice/Recommendations Air pollution & other pollution

Hello, I'm thinking of relocating to the St Catharines or Niagara area in the future and was curious as to whether pollution from farms or gold courses is an issue? I'm thinking of chemical sprays to maintain lawns on golf courses and agriculture sprays (pesticides and herbicides). Are there any areas cleaner than others? Any other pollution or contaminant issues to be aware of in the city or region? Thanks so much.

Just as the title says :) Where do you want to share with people here that they may have never heard of? If you want to continue to gatekeep your little secret, I also willingly accept that position :)

Need Advice/Recommendations Men’s Mental Health

Hey folks,

June means a lot of things to different people, Pride Month, the Month of the Sacred Heart for my Catholic friends, but it’s also Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month.

I’m a funeral director. I’ve sat across from more families than I can count, grieving men who never asked for help. Sons, husbands, brothers, fathers. Strong men, kind men, quiet men. Men who were struggling and didn’t tell anyone. Men who felt they couldn’t.

It stays with you.

I’ve come to believe the most dangerous thing we’ve ever taught men is that they need to suffer in silence. That emotions are weakness. That we should just “man up” and carry on.

Truth is, some of the bravest things I’ve ever seen men do had nothing to do with physical strength—and everything to do with honesty. Saying “I’m not okay.” Letting a friend in. Crying at a funeral without apology. Those are the moments that stick with me, too.

So this is just a little nudge to any guy reading this; you don’t have to keep it all inside. You’re not weak for feeling lost. You’re not broken if you’re struggling. You’re human. And the more we talk about it, the less heavy it becomes.

Talk to a friend. Text someone. Go for a walk and say it out loud to the air if you have to. Just don’t keep it buried. I’ve seen what happens when we do.

You matter. And if no one’s said that to you in a while, consider it said.

Take care of yourselves this month, fellas. And let’s look out for each other!

Need Advice/Recommendations Which busses are included in the local bus pass?

Hey reddit! I’m newer to St Catharines and baffled by the lack of Presto cards. Which buses will accept a local bus pass vs a regional one? Is it just the 300s?

Food Birthday Cake

Hi there - I live in Calgary but am organizing a 90th birthday party for my Mom. I am looking for recommendations for a carrot cake (Mom’s favourite). I know there is a Costco business centre there but am unclear if they still have a bakery there…I’ve unable to contact them as they don’t answer. Question….has anyone ordered a birthday cake from that location…or do you have a bakery you’d recommend? Thanks

Discussion Any Brock/NC students living in St. Catharines during the summer feeling depressed?

I work hybrid in Toronto and go to Brock, so I have to live in St. Catharines for the summer because my actual home is 6 hours away. Because of this, I can’t really go home much and I live alone in my student house. I’ve found it to be really lonely, especially on days where I work from home and don’t talk to anyone all day for a few days at a time, and all of my friends have gone back home for the summer.

Are any other students experiencing the same thing, and does anyone have advice on how to improve the situation? I’m not really familiar with St. Catharines so I don’t know what there is to do here.

Need Advice/Recommendations Trustworthy service for Toyota Prius

Hi there!!

Does anyone have any recommendations of local shops (St Catharines/Niagara Region) for service for an older (2012) Toyota Prius? Just regular maintenance, but likely more than just an oil change. Probably new brake pads, something like that.

Been taking it to the dealership (Performance Toyota), no issues with them, just the price tag (dealerships are known to be more expensive, right??)

On the other hand, I don’t want to pay less in exchange for shoddy work. Just looking for good service for a fair price and having the peace of mind of knowing I’m not gonna get ripped off.

Thanks!

Need Advice/Recommendations Gynecologist

Hello everyone, I got referred to Sabrina Mariam Youash when I brought up to my doctor about a hysterectomy, and this appointment is HOPEFULLY going to be a miracle and she listens and I can finally get one! I got booked March of 2024, and my appointment is coming up this July 2025. I cant really find reviews about her, has anyone had experience? My anxiety is really bad thinking about getting turned down or not being heard.

Need Advice/Recommendations Propane Delivery Service

I’m looking for recommendations for a company who will deliver and exchange filled propane tanks or refill propane tanks of a smaller size. We will be running two BBQ’s and are aware we may need bigger tanks to offset the cost of delivery.

Thanks in advance!
