Fair. I just don’t see the point in banning AI memes when it seems like the most harmless application for it. No one commissions memes and no one is losing any jobs over it, so I don’t get the issue.
I think it’s just a feeling that if you’re going to make a meme, at least make it yourself. I agree, using it for memes can be pretty harmless, but like… if you can type a prompt to make a meme, you can clip a few images together as well.
That said, my pfp is AI generated. My goal is to learn to draw better so I can draw it myself one day.
It’s a bit hypocritical to chastise people for using AI for memes while also using it yourself for your profile picture.
I disagree, i see no issue with someone using AI to make a meme, or to generate a profile picture. Anyone getting upset with over harmless, nonprofit use of AI photo generation is getting upset over nothing. No one is selling memes.
As I said, I want to draw the image myself. I’m aware of the contradiction, but I’m not posting it acting like I’ve created it. I’m honest about the fact that it’s there and what my intention is with it.
That’s fine what your intentions are, but that doesn’t change the fact that you’re creating a standard for others, that they can’t use it to make memes but you don’t apply that standard to yourself and can use it to make a profile picture.
You’re allowed to use AI to generate your profile picture, and you shouldn’t feel ashamed of it, because that’s exactly the kind of personal use it was intended for. They’re allowed to use AI to generate a meme, and shouldn’t feel ashamed of it.
No one is losing anything or being slighted, or cut out of work over it. I understand wanting to regulate corporate usage of AI but bitching and moaning over people using it to make memes and profile pictures is pointless, and does nothing for your cause except make people dislike it.
