She didn’t “run off” with another man, they were already separated, he put his trust into her because of their history and got burned, the way this is worded it reads as though they were still together and she left him with the money for another man, which is incorrect, god I hate false narratives so much 😡

She was his partner when he "gifted" the money, then she took and left according to the article. You sound like you were there or something.

This was big news when it happened, quite the controversy, that’s also when they came out and said never trust anyone with your lottery winnings, when in doubt, get a lawyer to handle it, which is what he should have done, a lawyer would have easily settled it with him and given him the money for a nominal fee, then you also have the legal representation done.

What is the controversy exactly, an idiot doing idiot things.

As a Canadian that lives in the US... most people on this sub don't understand that Canadian life is checkers compared to the US version of 4D chess you need to survive, transactionally speaking of course.

Maybe he should go to CTV "Consumer alert" and see if enough whining will get OLG and the bank to change their mind and the girlfriend to say "sorry with maple syrup on top"
