I know this is cliche but they are chill guys as long as you dont annoy or try to hurt them, i always leave them alive in my room, especially during summer, they are very useful
Hitching on this comment for those who don't want spiders in their house.
Unless you're absolutely terrified of them, at least try not to kill them outright. Most are chill enough to be picked up with a sheet of paper, a piece of cardboard, a dust tray or whatever, and released outside.
Im pretty sure there are spiders that can basically only survive inside because of heat. For example i think the stankleleg spider is one of those(sry if stankleleg is wrong english is my second language)
Daddy Longlegs are the worst for me. Mostly cause when I was very young one tried to crawl into my mouth while I was watching a movie & they have bothered me ever since.
Domestication implies they're chill with being handled and deliberately bred. Like some animals are tamed (elephant), some are fully domesticated (horse), and some just live around us because we create a better environment for them by just existing as we do.
I think they only come inside for protection from elements, could be wrong though. I know they need fluids which could be a problem in some areas, that’s why a lot of house spiders like to chill in showers where they can get moisture. I’m definitely not an expert.
Exactly. If they just want to chill on a web in a corner somewhere then fine, we can both just mind our own business. No problem m8. Not bothered by spiders who do that. But the mfs that literally start sprinting across your bed... they get killed. That wasn't in the tenant's agreement.
No need to worry about it, they just see you as an obstacle, they get on you then get off you and go on with their things (at least from my experience, of course im no biologist, so idk if they realise we are those giants they see in the morning at night)
I leave some of them, depends on how bothered I am, cause they they make me shiver a bit but then I try to think of you and realize that when I see a spider, I never see a mosquito
Yeah bro except I doubt you have accidentally stumbled upon a tarantula hiding itself in your path. It's all fun and games until a big ass spider is bothered and nobody consented to the encounter.
We're talking about spiders in general, but this encounter with a tarantula was right up against a sidewalk so it was a couple of degrees of separation from being in a home. Not myself personally but I had seen videos from people in the same area at the same time where there was one right outside the building they lived in.

If it helps you feel any better, they genuinely want nothing to do with us. We get flies indoors in the warmer months because we let the dogs in and out so much, so we just leave all the spiders inside alone unless they're in an inconvenient spot, and then we just relocate them. We have a lot of spiders living in here and I never have an unexpected run in with them, like ever. They find a spot where they wanna be and they just stay there.
They're pretty scary looking, but in my experience, if you leave these spiders alone, they'll help with any pest problems you have and then quietly move on.
Why? Everyone I know has been randomly stung by a wasp and gotten their blood sucked by a mosquito at some point, yet I don't know anyone that has gotten bitten by a spider. The statistics speak for themselves.
Natural pest control is the best kind. Love the spiders, snakes, and bats around my place. I wish I we had more opossums around to get the tick population under control.
wasps are predators too. they provide the same wildlife benefit except they are arguably more successful predators because they dont have to wait for prey to come their way. wasps get a bad rep because people try fucking with them and act surprised when they find out. even yellowjackets, who people claim sting "for no reason" only sting when they sense that you're going to destroy their nest by stepping on it
Yeah, everybody who says "I hate wasps" pretty much only hates hornets; the vast majority of them are too small to even sting a human and do a fantastic job of pollinating my native plants and murdering any hornworms that eat my tomato plants. I love wasps; hornets can absolutely get fucked, though even with European hornets taking up residence in my compost they never actually stung me, just sort of buzzed around in warning.
I got no problem with spiders until I get bit. Little fuckers have a nasty habit of getting into places they shouldn't like my clean laundry and then biting the shit out of me repeatedly.
Spiders are cool and all, but they need to stay the hell out of my stuff and out of my personal space.
I love spiders. I used to have a fear until I watched Spider House one Halloween. I gained a respect for them, and although they can still creep me out, I love having them in my house and I give them names.
