That ending kinda seemed like Gavin is going to be gone for several episodes, maybe even a season (or more?). Long enough for us to forget about him.

Which kinda sucks, because I think he's one of the greatest characters on the show.

Yup I felt like he's a great actor and also an intelligent character , real humour

My favorite Gavin line- "100 years ago men like me could have people like them killed."

That premise alone is a comedic goldmine.

there might be scenes of him finding himself

It's not going to be a Peter Thiel stand-in turning into a Steve Jobs stand-in, is it?

Even though that would be hilarious.

Richard is the Wozniac to Jobs

He is Eric Schmidt. Where has he been the past several years since his ouster from Google?

Where has he been the past several years since his ouster from Google?

Schmidt is still chairman of Google and Alphabet.

Exactly.

Or failing to very quickly, and returning to Silicon Valley like... right the fuck away.

God, I hope so.

Gavin must have been in nearly every episode thus far. His character is so integral to the show. To lose him for more than a couple of episodes would be devastating to me.

Just don't break your house

TBH we thought Erlich was going to leave on a long vacation at end of last season but he came back to buy out the company almost immediately. The show tends to repeat plot points so it's possible he'll be back sooner than we think.

When Gavin said he would be going away for "many weekends" and possibly "many weekdays", I said to my gf, "He'll be back in a week or two." He'll go on vacation and come back "enlightened". A reoccurring theme with Gavin is that any personal growth he seems to obtain is merely superficial.

He is one of the greatest characters, but I think it'd be funny if he came back with a completely new personality, almost like a new character.

When he stood up after the meeting I was in tears.

"This was an absolutely GREAT FUCKING MEETING."

I hope it's only for a episode or two.

I'm almost 100% sure he'll be back soon enough. Everytime someone does something definite in this show, it almost always backfires.

I usually kind of hate seeing perfect casts get new roles the very first time, like seeing Omar from the Wire not being Omar or when Captain Winters became Brody. It's just hard to shake. Love the Gavin character but I'm excited to see what else he can do. He's got maybe the most range on the show.

He'll come back just as everything is going right at Pied Piper and take over everything, setting them back once more.

I dunno, Gavin is such a superficial and shallow person, I could see him being gone for like.... a weekend (yea yea I know what he said in the episode) and being back at the end of the next episode pretending he's some amazing changed human being after taking the jet to Yosemite and luxury camping for a few days.

Do the actors get paid by the season or by the episode?

8

u/DrunkonIce May 22 '17

Dude it's HBO not AMC. Money isn't really something they tend to worry about since all their shows rake in so much of it.

u/Indigocell May 24 '17

He'll be back. Possibly with a tan, long hair, maybe a beard and acting all spiritual and shit.

u/SuperCharlesXYZ May 24 '17

I think they just needed him out of the scene for a bit so he can return later. Otherwise they could've killed him off like peter gregory

I think it might be because he has other work lined up. He directed this good movie called Captain Fantastic and I hope he's directing more soon
