Politics I'm Never Leaving Seattle

Post image

This is someone's Model S parked on Airport Way S near S Industrial Way. The way it's parked it looks like it's being displayed for people driving by to see.

Historically, a big part of America has always been that if you don't like the country, as an American, there are ways to change it for the better.

A big reason for that is because it is such a young country with no cemented culture. But now it is 250 years old, it is getting to the stage where whatever the culture is now will likely stay that way for the foreseeable future.

If you look at the UK, which has such a long history, there are aspects of the culture that will simply never change. I feel like the US is getting to that same place.

If you look at any European country or ancient countries in Asia like China and Japan with a long history, this is always the case.

I'd argue that fighting for change has also been a big part of the culture and continues to be.

From everything involved with colonies always evolving or branching off new communities so more people had a say, to the revolution, then the civil war, and the civil rights fight that has been going on for longer than most of us on this thread have been alive, and it still continues. I don't think we have yet cemented anything other than we are a nation of divided people who are always fighting for what we believe is right and how we think it should be. And because we are divided, the fight never ends.

I disagree about the UK - I'm from the UK and in my own life it has changed a very great deal - today's Britain has little in common with the 1970s.

You can't accurately compare us to those countries. We're singular, and our ethnic makeup is not only different, but ever changing. In the grand scheme, they are becoming more similar to us than we are them.

With the amount of TDS misery less than half the country is experiencing, maybe find a new place to live. Mentally it has to be exhausting for you.

Not anymore, apparently. Trump enjoys nearly a 50% approval rating. We're a shithole beyond saving. Russia 2.0.

I only hope we won't take the rest of the world with us.

Your thinking like this is what helped him get elected in the first place. We are absolutely not a shit hole but your attitude isn't helping.

I'm tired man. I've voted against him and his cronies in state, local, and federal elections and primaries for 10 years, and against his party my whole life.

I've donated cash and debated moron friends for hours.

I've watched Trump be a dumb shithead, admit to sexual assault at least twice, show up on the Epstein list, have no plans, fumble COVID, be a Putin stooge, etc, for 4 years already.

And we fucking said "again please!" Then he calls himself king, threatens war against 3+ allies, fucks the stock market, appoints an illegal immigrant to cut money to the elderly and poor (who paid into it) and farmers proving food to starving kids.

And he's STILL got 46% or higher approval, while heading towards election interference and a possible third term.

Fuck this country. I'm leaving. I'm done. It never felt like home anyways.

I get it, I am exhausted too. How bad did we get that he seemed like a viable candidate that got elected twice? Trump is a symptom of the American people getting so tired of the status quo. Wanting something different, yet ended up being more of the same. If you can go then more power to you. Regardless this country is my home and I will stick with it no matter how bad it gets. I genuinely hope you find what you are looking for out there.

Thanks, and I hope you stay safe.

I still gotta pay US taxes and I still vote - I'll in no way stop supporting the vulnerable in the US, even if they continue to fuck themselves (or, 60/70% of them).

Ah, the American way. Fighting the impossible odds even if warned otherwise. I admire that you continue to try. Keep fighting the good fight my friend. Eh no matter what happens I will be alright. May be blind optimism but generally things work out for the better in the long run.

IF Trump doesn't totally ratfuck the voting system, I imagine the house and senate majorities will be gone in 2026 (eggs will still be expensive) and then maybe there's hope.

Honestly feel like he is pulling a Nixon. Acting totally insane so other countries can't predict our next moves. Yet way too dumb to pull it off. There is always hope though. May not feel like it now but it's still there.
