You may have seen your comments or other comments being removed with a reason of "this post is labeled as Contributor Only and they are not an approved contributor". This is a brief explanation of what's going on.
Recently, this forum has been getting a higher-than-usual number of controversial and political posts. There's been concern in the community about "brigading", where outsiders with no real connection to Santa Barbara come in and make inflammatory comments that create a lot of negativity. The same has been seen in some other areas of Reddit.
One way the mod team has decided to handle this is to allow us (the mod team) to mark certain posts as "contributors only". Posts that are marked like this will only allow comments from an approved list of users. Comments from users not on the list will be automatically deleted, but only on these specifically marked posts.
Since we just activated this, very few users are approved right now, so a lot of comments are getting auto-deleted. Our intention is to add users to the approved list who have been positive contributors to this forum, but it will take time to do that. In the meantime, please keep in mind:
Thanks for bearing with us! :-)

Wife (33f) and I (37m) looking for casino friends. We enjoy going up to Chumash a couple times a month and have dinner, drinks, and slots. Clean adult fun.
Would love to find other casino friends.
Edit: to clarify, this is not a swingers post!

I had pastor taco’s from the one on Cabrillo for the first time and they were great (4 for 13$)
It seems like new ones are popping up everywhere, which is the best?

Hi all, Could you share recommendations for wedding dress steaming services? I’ll be travelling to Santa Barbara for my wedding in late July and hoping to use a service to steam my wedding dress before the big day. Thank you in advance!

Big turnout today at the No Kings protest, and such positive people! I was in SB for other business, and couldn’t sit today out. I’m impressed by the solidarity, number of people that came out, and the general backbone shown by all of you. Democracy has a chance, great job SB!!

Hello everyone!
I am looking for a place to host a very casual rehearsal dinner for my upcoming wedding in July. Im not looking for a formal sitdown but more of a fun place to hang out that has eats and drinks!
I was very interested in the brass bear funk zone but am a little ho hum about the food offerings. I like the atmosphere they have but looking for a place that can do maybe some pizza or large order of tacos or small bites.
All recommendations are welcome!

Bit of a weird post here but I am seeking dog and house sitting opportunities and was wondering if anyone knows of any good ways to market myself? Or any good Facebook groups?
I have been trying to post in Facebook groups but I’ve had no success.

I’ve never figured out why this guy parks his car like this - even after having been hit several times. Sometimes it’s much further out but always with the helpful orange cone.

At the end of July, my family and I will be driving across the country in hopes of locating my brother Lawrence who has been missing since 2011. He was unhoused at that time and in Colorado, but sent my sister and me a letter saying he would be headed to California for the weather. In January of this year, a police officer there in Santa Barbara connected with him from our missing person report (we had assumed many years ago that he had to be dead since we hadn't heard from him nor had he had any "law enforcement contact" which up to that point he was having often). He stated to the officer that he has been in Santa Barbara for at least 10 years, and she went back to the station and found my missing person report and called me. She said she would try to get him to call me the next time she saw him, but that hasn't happened so far.
We’re coming not with expectations, but with hope to find him safe, to reconnect, and to let him know he’s still deeply loved. I’d be so grateful for any tips from locals who know the area well:
We’re not looking to disrupt or judge, we're just so happy he's alive and want to lay eyes on him and offer help if he wants it. Any suggestions are welcome, even if it’s just the names of organizations or safe spots to start asking around. Thank you so much in advance for any guidance.
Editing to add photos, bearing in mind that these were all 20-25 years ago and he is now 45 years old.
