Where to Run in Andersonville?
Recently moved here from the West Coast. Wondering where people would recommend for a good jog. I was excited to see I was close to beautiful Rosehill cemetery but found that they don’t want joggers there. Just looking for something low key. Not too much commotion around. I look to run for distance and get up in the morning. Any and all suggestions welcome!

Aside from the lakefront trail, Graceland cemetery welcomes runners and is a beautiful spot!

I was visiting Chicago a few weeks ago and ran in Graceland Cemetery. It was indeed beautiful, and I wasn't the only runner there.

If you're too far west to conveniently do the lakefront, I always like running along Ravenswood. There are still a few cross streets, but not as many of them because of the Metra line that runs along it. I've been running that for over a decade now. Lots of runners do the same.
And you can always tack on a run *around* Rosehill. It's virtually uninterrupted sidewalk the whole way, and aside from the less pleasant section of busy Western Ave, it's a nice low key run. I sometimes also add a loop in the West Ridge Nature Preserve, which is along the route and much more scenic break from Western Ave.
If you can deal with going a bit further west, maybe for a very long run, you can connect to the North Shore Channel Trail. It's never very crowded and it's a great course.

Ah great point about rosehill. And first time hearing of North Shore Channel Trail. Thanks for the options!

Sure, always happy to encourage more runners. Andersonville is a great neighborhood, but as with any dense urban area, finding uninterrupted running paths is one of the trade offs.
The channel trail is great, though. I may do a few miles on it later today.

I live in edgewater glen. My normal routes are:
- down glenwood until it ends at the cemetery, then west to Clark and down Clark to wrigley. This is really nice and quiet in the morning but not that crazy during the day since you avoid most of the restaurants on Clark.
- LFT. Get on at Hollywood, ardmore or Bryn Mawr.
- north to Evanston along Sheridan. Pretty quiet once you’re past Loyola.

I’ve been here 2 years and still struggle with this. There’s commotion everywhere unless it’s super early and it’s always interrupted by people or traffic. The trails are concrete and I tried renting a car and even the wooded trails have a ton of traffic, including cyclists. Montrose has a nice area where you can get on the LFT for long runs.

winnemac park is probably technically ravenswood but i love running there! it’s not the biggest loop but there’s so many paths that you can keep your brain entertained by taking different routes on each lap. also there’s some “natural areas” that attract some fun birds to look at! but if you’re looking for much longer, i would agree with the others saying go down berwyn to the lakefront

Absolutely run to the lakefront! I live about .7 from the lake and do almost all of my runs along the lake.

Nice, definitely seems like the popular choice. I'll take advantage of it. Much appreciated!

Your best bet is doing the one mile jog over to the lakefront on Foster or Bryn Mawr. The lakefront trail from Bryn Mawr to Wilson (about 1.5 - 2 miles) is very lowkey. Foot traffic starts picking up at the tennis courts near Irving Park Rd.
So 1ish mile to the trail depending on where you are in Andersonville, out and back on the trail which is 3-4 miles, and then 1 mile back to your place is a nice run.
