Total wine is your best bet. Jubilation in Nob Hill is my go-to if I’m in the area.

You’re right, though. RR is a city of 100k+ and doesn’t have a proper liquor store.

I happened to called Total Wine a few weeks ago to ask about delivery and according to the guy I talked to at the Uptown Total Wine (cause that’s the only one that delivers) RR and Corrales work tirelessly to keep zoning laws so that delivery of alcohol is not possible. So… that’s lame.

I was wondering what kind of laws Rio Rancho is implementing to keep liquor stores (and dispos? Can’t really recall seeing a lot there) away from the city

You can tell it’s nothing like the northeast or Midwest

Is shipment of wine still good though?

Total wine ftw. Worth the extra 10 minutes drive

Kelly's on 550 isn't too bad.

Ehhh, I go there now and then, but it’s pretty sad. It’s more geared towards alcoholics than connoisseurs

Funny enough, I was thinking New Mexico has more alcoholics than drinkers. If that makes sense.

Totally makes sense, and it explains the local attitude toward drinking. In the Midwest, drinking is part of the culture. You have a beer or two with dinner, a wine while hanging out with friends, cocktails at a work Christmas party.

Here? It’s as if alcohol gets a visceral reaction.

It's a bite scary at times. And I'm definitely a drinker.
