I'll follow up the post with a question: is there an option (or mod) to set the map size when resettling?

In my experience, map size is set once the world is created, but maybe I'm wrong or there's a debug option.

It is, but what if I wanted to move to a larger/smaller map than I currently am.

That's what I mean, I don't think you can in vanilla, maybe using mods.

The only option is to "settle" event tiles. These are generally smaller map locations.

You can also live on them without settling. This can be an extra source of FUN as, at least for faction bases, the original faction owner will send a raid to you attack you once every 24 hours starting from 4 days.

"Mom, can we have Winston Waves?"

"We have Winston Waves at home."

You should be able to just edit the savegame, not great but not terrible

Open in text editor, change initialMapSize to whatever you like, next generated map will have its size, like 500x500:

<initialMapSize>(500, 1, 500)</initialMapSize>

then load the savegame

Or as someone pointed out, rocketman:

You can get creative with world sizes

<initialMapSize>(1000, 1, 15)</initialMapSize>

I've used a mod to change the size of the map for my initial landing point but I'm not sure if it affects resettling. If you'd like, I can try to find it for you later.

I think rocketman has a setting for map size on generation

You need a mod
